The best available one.

The best one would be one with 3D IMAX.

Yeah, I'm glad at least Black Widow had the IMAX.

It is weird that the 3D version got switching ratios but the 4K version didn't. I don't particularly care since I never had any intention of watching the 4K lol, but it is strange. I'm a little ambivalent about the how much more an IMAX version adds when watching on a large screen but it's got to be an improvement right? So I do agree that they should have done the same thing for Shang-chi.

That's in line with all the previous mcu movies where the 3D version the imax shifting. The 4K version never did on any of those, as far as I know.

You know I've watched just about every 4K/3D MCU combo and I'm not sure I have ever noticed this. Which brings me back to my previous point on "how much" the extra real estate matters on a large screen as opposed to a TV which is where it really matters. It could be that I simply don't pay attention? But either way I still want IMAX

To me it makes an enormous difference. Love the IMAX scenes. I should add I only have a 55 inch TV, so probably why they mean so much to me.

Here's a comprehensive list from another site of what formats have them. Aquaman not having them on the 3D only makes me sad.

I hope to be watching this with my girl tonight — she hasn’t seen the film yet but I think she’s gonna love it.

Also, can’t wait to see what 3D Blu-ray reviews you might have in store for the future…(hint hint…)

I hope it gets you both in the mood (for Multiverse of Madness in 3D, I mean).

I’ve been surprised to hear a few people say they weren’t totally delighted by Shang-Chi’s 3D; I thought it was excellent.

One or two of the other Marvel’s have had even more fabulous stereo and, whilst Dr Strange is my personal favourite for 3D & movie working together, great 3D, and being (what I think is) a good film, I think their absolute most dazzling 3D presentation (I wouldn’t object at all to anyone saying it’s the most impressive 3D ever) was Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The trouble with that one, for me, is it seems that I’m one of a tiny handful of people on this planet (or any other) who couldn’t stand the movie itself: At least with Shang-Chi (as with much of the MCU) I was just indifferent, so will happily watch it again!

It is very good but should have been better. Maybe with the right setup it is, but then that suggests that the 3D isn't as strong as it should be.

I think GotG 2 3D is excellent and right up there with the best MCU 3D projects. As for the poor reception? That was the press narrative. The truth is that it made nearly 900 million dollars and got an A cinema score, the same as Shang-chi.

I have just received some VR theatres and the screen size and distances have increased my 3D viewing immersion even though they are not quite as big as my other screens. The scaffolding scene is now more immersive with the feeling that Shang-chi takes me with him as he swings through them and the sharp camera pans are more impactful. I did not get that feeling before which kind of proves my point that Shang-chi is setup sensitive.

I LOVE the scaffold fight, an absolute knockout in 3D

What a great movie, especially in 3-f**king-D

I picked this up recently and just finished watching it on my projector. I was really impressed. The 3D effect was a lot like other MCU 3D discs imo, which I'm always happy with. The end fight was a treat.

Subtitles were a bit annoying, but it is what it is and just happy to have it in 3D.

After the recent price drop at amazon.jp I picked up This, Black Widow, Hobbs & Shaw & Terminator 2. I thought they were all pretty solid 3D, but this one was the best.

I'm sure this has been thought of, but wanted to throw it out there. On my 2nd playthrough of Shang Chi, I played around with subtitle settings on my player to help mitigate the subtitles issue.

Of course you can still turn them off for a large portion of the movie and every blu-ray player is different, but the Panasonic UB820 allows me to crank the luminance way down and position them below the image and down in the black bar instead.

The much dimmer subtitle text and being moved in to the black bar area made it much more tolerable to just leave on. Night and day imo. Means I can't use my projector masking for this one, but that's an okay trade off for one movie.

I have that player. Did you make your adjustments in the CC Setup? Do you mind sharing your exact manual changes? You may PM if you prefer.

Finally got round to watching it with the missus last night. She loved it. The 3D is pushed the most during the bits set in Ta-Lo. The entire final conflagration is stupendous, especially if you like
[Show spoiler]spectacular midair dragon fights!

The Japanese Blu is well worth to me the $70 I spent.

I'm not at home to check right now and I use a Harmony not the oem remote, but I think it's called the "options" menu with the subtitle options in there.

There's two options for shifting the subtitles up or down and lowering the luminance of the text. I cranked the luminance to the lowest value it would go (I think -12) and would have liked to be able to go even lower if it were possible. For the shifting, you can move it up or down the screen, but you can only shift it up to about the mid point of the screen, so putting it in the black bar below was the only option. I originally wanted it at the top due to my masking and lens shift on my projector.

I assume these settings stick, so you would need to change it back for non 3d movies if you want it closer to default for those.
