Default Star Trek ranking #8: Choose the weakest ST film remaining

well, this hasn't played out anywhere near where i'd have wanted it, but that sure would've been a boring result, anyway. the point was to see where we would all place these films, not where individuals would. during the final we can all post our own rankings.

The story so far...

This one was really tough, as all the remaining choices are really good movies IMO.

Sorry First Contact. You are good, just not as good. Hey #3 aint bad.

Again, my only change would be the 11th and 10th place. otherwise spot on.

First Contact was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting a massive Borg against humans space battle, and instead got a 60 second space battle before going to the past!

I'm going to have to take down First Contact. The human flesh on Data was a bit silly (although I understand what they were going for), and the story on earth was a bit boring, and while I enjoyed the ship battle against the Borg, it wasn't quite the epic feel I was hoping for with this movie. This was our one shot at a movie featuring the Borg and they kept the story at the TV level.

Btw, VERY surprised to see people voting Star Trek II as weaker than First Contact. Wow!

Oh well,

Thumbs down

Yeah the people who think Wrath of Khan is worse than 2009 are crazy. Wrath of Khan is the 7th best sci-fi film of all-time, 2009 is just a solid popcorn movie.

If they never made another Star Trek movie and we did this very poll
again in say.... 7 years time--

I bet that the new Star Trek would never rate as high as it's doing here--

some people are obviously saying it's better even than Wrath of Kahn---

ridiculous!!!!!!!!!

honestly I like undiscovered country better then first contact. Of the 3 left first contact is by far the weakest. I like the new star trek the best b/c the cast is young. it's nice seeing guys not social security eligible. now if wrath of khan had been made when they were young it would beat the new one.

im surprised Insurrection got 8th oO

i felt cheated when watching that, felt like they just capitalized on the star trek name and picard to get sales

kinda like they did with this new star trek...

edit: lol wow just noticed the "star trek" in the poll is the new one
it was ok but it felt like Insurrection, it wasn't Star Trek is was just masked in it :/

Insurrection felt like a tv episode to me. It even "looked" like one. The production values on that movie were quite low. Even the story was "tv calibur".

As for the new Star Trek - for me, it was much closer in line to the kind of Star Trek I always wanted. I wanted the epic stories but I always felt that Star Trek was often low budget sci-fi. After the great space battle in Star Trek II, I always felt let down with the action later on.

For me, Star Trek 9 was closer to the Star Trek movie I was always wanting - and judging by the box office for ST9 - seems many others were feeling the same way.

Had to go with First Contact, because, there is no way Picard is better than Kirk. Either Kirk.
