It hasn't been said either way. If I were WB Id definately go the "unrated" route, and get as many people to give it another chance as possible

Yeah, Im all for this. I felt the film was quite enjoyable, despite not being perfect. However, I do feel that the marketting department gave away what could have been an interesting plot twist in the trailers.

I hope that isn't a paradox to the people in charge. "So people WILL buy an older movie but it has to be so definitive they never need to buy it again! Why should we do that?" instead of "Hey, it's okay to do it right the first time!"
I get your point, but Gladiator and Titanic have a few differences to Bond:
1.)Gladiator and Titanic were both Best Picture winners
2.)for some reason the perception online is among the HD demographic (young to middle aged males) is that older movies (like many of the Bond movies) don't benefit much from HD.
That is very true, people have this perception that there is not need to have older movies on BD. This is likely to change but it will be slow

For the forseeable future yes, until such a time as Weinstein could become stable again, or otherwise get money behind their catalog

I know for myself, I'm waiting for all the Bond films to get released (Craig films excepted) to pick them up on BD. I want to see what they do deal wise when all are available.

I'm hearing at least some of this will be fixed. There wasn't budget to do it the first time around, but I'm hearing that some new ADR has been done for the Blu-ray.

All I'll say is, when you finally get the Blus... you will NOT get the blues.

Bill/Jeff,

While you're both here...should we be reading into Paramount's September announcements (i.e. no Braveheart).

I really, really hope they haven't pushed it back again. If they did, I give up!!! I'll officially ask Deci if he can add the "wave the white flag" smiley to our list on this site.

Bill,

I haven't heard much about Indiana Jones trilogy lately. Is there still a good chance we'll see this by Christmas?

If it's still tenatively scheduled for this year, we probably won't hear anything from Lucasfilm until ComicCon (July).

Jeff/Bill, anything on the other Coen Bros. films - Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, O' Brother and the rest?

Bill you dont have to comment on this and I dont suspect you will, but I do feel the one way they could make this set better would be to finally convince David Fincher to participate and create his own cut that comes somewhat close to what he had in mind.

That would be a fanboys dream come true, but I seriously doubt it will happen.

But as Ive said in the past, If they only included the material from the current Quad set, Id be just fine.

But cocooned Burke deserves to be seen, too.

At this point my only real concern is that Fox may decide to hold back on certain features with the rumored reboot/prequel possibly coming up.

Thats really only thing that could tamper my enthusiasm.

Im only in favor if Ridley was involved, though.

Again Bill/Jeff, I doubt you can comment on any of the above requests, but I am letting you know what fanboys are hoping for ;-)

Yes, Blu-rays are more scratch-resistant, but Netflix reported a high breakage rate than DVD. Sony was reported to be studying the problem with them according to the original report. Did anything ever come out of this?
Nothing public, but if you think about it, the likely answer is that the rigidity the hardcoat adds combined with the lack of padding means more discs going through the machines and mail handling will break.

And on the hardware side, once Toshiba started slashing prices so drastically so quickly, it was clear to me that they were NEVER going to win the support of any other manufacturer.
Basically every single player that shipped from a non-Toshiba company was a rebadged Toshiba player, because Toshiba slashed prices and lost so much money on every unit it became impossible to be profitable

I know that Charlie would like nothing better than to get Fincher involved and get his stamp of approval on it.

AWESOME. I remember asking Peter Staddon about it on one of the last HTF Fox chats (right around the time the Quadrilogy first came out), and he tried twice to tell the story behind how they got scrapped, but he was using the Java chat client, and both times he tried to answer he overflowed the cache and so his response was blank.
