I'm sure that is a tendency during any big growth phase for a newer big business. Probably said about Sears, K-Mart, S. H. Kress, Woolworth, Comcast, Verizon, DirecTV, Dish, RCA, Zenith, and many more. An old saying, “What goes up can come down.”

In the US there used to be lines at the mobile phone stores, Best Buy opened dedicated phone stores in shopping malls. Now all the Best Buy dedicated phone stores are closed and they have really reduced the mobile phone section in their regular stores. AT&T sold all their mobile phone stores.

Does not not mean people have stopped using or buying mobile phones they way they used to, just means the market started to saturate like many other markets do.

I'm OK with no Netflix streaming but I sure would miss Netflix disc by mail in a big way. Would make me really

Maybe I'll try to watch Stranger Things ..... I'm trying with Ozark but it's plenty boring.
Neither worked for us but then that is true with most content on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, ATV+, HBO Max....

Will restart Disney+ on the 25th for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Just got an offer from T-Mobile to get 1 year of ATV+ so we will look into re-upping that one.

Are you all aware that Netflix lost 700,000 subs when it pulled out of Russia? No more Netflix Russia.

That's a start at least.

I don't like them because they wanted to dump the disc portion of the business.

Don't worry about Netflix they will be alright, it seems they are the last major company to still rent Physical Discs. You guys have bigger problems you're running out of places to rent Physical Discs. Vudu has some good $.99 Specials, I just rented Resident Evil:Welcome to Raccoon City last night!

Rent? I blind buy every single one of my films (barring streaming exclusives) If I rented, I might as well use streaming. I want to own my films in great quality.

I do the same thing, though I do tread softly on that risk. I bought The Cursed and Uncharted blind, and the luckily the former turned out to be my favorite horror film of the year so far and the latter was a rather enjoyable time echoing the Indys and Tomb Raider.

I haven't rented a disc since 2007.

As I have no problem finding plenty of discs to buy, I think I'm doing just fine.

I don't rent either. I don't like having to plan out when I'm going to watch something.

With a large collection I always have lots to watch regardless of what I'm in the mood for. I could never have that kind of freedom with subscriptions unless I subscribed to a bunch of them every month (and that would cost even more than my collection).

I have my local rental shop, Redbox, etc., as far as rentals go. I don't blind buy as much as I did a few years ago.

You still have a local video rental place?

That's awesome.

Hundreds of my movies come from my local rental places that had fire sales when they closed down.

I have some streaming services so I suppose that has taken the place of rental for me.

I'm very happy no one has asked to borrow movies in years because that was always a drag.

I read a Netflix memo had this - Netflix tells employees to “spend our members’ money wisely”

This makes it sound grave. They probably encouraged employees to buy stock and now they are hoping those employees still have enough money to keep the lights on.

I grabbed the Curse too based on the trailer. Glad to hear a positive review. I will probably pick up Uncharted at some point as well.

Different one. Cool period piece horror from appearances.

Below is some info that shows the difference between what I pay to see on BD vs the cost of streaming rental. My last Netflix calculation was $1.92 per title. As you can see the streaming rental cost is ≫ my rental cost. Plus I get to see with high bit rate video and lossless audio. Streaming cost info from JustWatch.

In queue
Moonfall $5.99 + .40 = $6.39
Uncharted $5.99 + .40 = $6.39
The King's Daughter $5.99 + .40 = $6.39

Recently watched

Spider-Man: No Way Home $3.99 + .27 = $4.26
The Last Duel $3.99 + .27 = $4.26
Jungle Cruise $3.99 + .27 = $4.26
Cruella $3.99 + .27 = $4.26
House of Gucci $5.99 + .40 = $6.39

Yes sir.

https://www.vidtheque.com/

They've been around since 2003. They're an indie shop, so they have a ton of hard to find titles on DVD/BD/UHD. Lost of obscure and OOP titles, as well. I've been going there since December.

Real neat place, do you live in South Pasadena? I graduated from Franklin High School in Highland Park. Still have Family in the L.A. area, we go to Toluca Lake every year for Thanksgiving. Lots of history in some of those old neighborhoods.

Paid $25 Canadian to watch THE NORTHMAN. Took 2 minutes to properly matte for 2:1 while I brewed my coffee. The 4K HDR ( I don't have DV), and ATMOS track were amazing on my setup. It was a worth every penny and more. I'll pick up the disc when available.

Saw UNCHARTED the same way. Also worth it for a one time viewing to ascertain that it would not be worth owning.

Yeah .... I hosted Uncharted and was pretty excited about it.

I didn't love it but I may like it more next time I watch it. I waited for the disc and I am looking forward to the NORTHMAN

You paid $25 to watch The Northman once? What service did you watch it on?
