Agreed about wanting him to try and take on serious roles, although Stranger than fiction deffinatly had a sufficient helping of comedy.

I more or less don't like him in films, though he was extremely good in King Kong, and Tenacious D: The pick of dystany was very funny.

Shia LeBoeuf and Justin Long.. they must have signed deals with the devil or something, because the studios won't stop casting them. I didn't believe that Justin Long was a nerdy hacker in Die Hard 4 or a Psychology Professor in Drag Me to Hell.. he was acting the same way(?).

I think they're supposed to be generic hollywood versions of the smug jock who's trendy and geeky at the same time, and the studios are milking that demographic. But yeah, those two are just as bad as Michael Cera with the typecasting. There must be better actors out there.

Have you ever watched Arrested Development?

I somewhat agree about Michael Cera (as well as Jack Black) right now but it isn't his fault. There have been so many ads for Year One that I wouldn't even consider going and seeing it, I'm so sick of it. It was particularly bad during the NBA Finals, I swear every commercial break had a Year One commercial. Year One has probably spent $30 million on commercials already, and there's no way it pays off. It will have one decent weekend, probably $30-$35 million and then get swallowed up by Transformers.

Why? Why do people want to see this? Adam Sandler tried and it didnt work. Why do we need to see comedy actors do serious roles. There are plenty of serious actors to act in serious roles. I understand this thread is just another way for people to bash the actors they dont like on the internet. But if you don't like Will Ferrel, Jack Black, Michael Cera, etc. then don't see there movies. There are plenty of people who do and want to see them. There are so many actors and actresses in Hollywood that we don't need to see them expand their horizons.

The problem is a lot of the actors I tend to hate pop up in the movies I'd want to see otherwise. They ruin the potential of a film.

Did we really need Shia LaBoeuf in I Robot? Indiana Jones 4? Did we really need Robin Williams as the goofy and eccentric reverend in License to Wed? (god that movie was awful) Was Dane Cook necessary in Dan in Real Life? Was Will Smith the best person to play Neville in I Am Legend? Did we need an actor who'd request rewrites to shoehorn in references to Bob Marley and Shrek for god's sake?

I don't think the issue is people watching movies that star actors that they hate, its movies that would be otherwise great if the current flavor of the month wasn't set to star.

Ouch, how could I forget him?! The new late show is horrific, I can't imagine he'll have a job too much longer.

LOVE Michael Cera.

But the equal to your Michael Cera for me is Shia LeBouef (don't care enough to look up his spelling), even though he's in two of the few BDs I own.

I still do find him funny, but his AD days were his best.

That show was so perfectly cast it borders on ridiculousness.

That would be Nic Cage. Sure I do love quite a few older movies despite him being in them but I'm sick of seeing him and his ability to play the same actor same tone of voice, same style of talking in every freaking movie.

Will Ferrell. I always thought he was a hack, and have never really enjoyed any of his movies, except for Stranger Than Fiction. He's just not funny IMO.

I know everyone is going to hate this, but I can't stand Seth Rogen. He's the new Pauly Shore. He will forever be "that stoner guy".

Same as Cera. The schtick that gets old really fast. I can't stand having to sit through the trailer of Year One, because it looks like a sequel to all the other movies he's ever done.

Same with Jack Black. This guy seriously needs to break free from the ol' "slacker" and the "free loader" gimmick because he can actually act.
