The sale runs the entire month of May, so it'll still be there whenever they do August announcements.

That would be amazing. For me what would be more amazing would be a boxset of all the films Criterion has directed by Hideo Gosha. Hell, I'd take just Hunter in the Dark. I would honestly pay for all their production costs if they would release that damn movie.

Haha. Not rolling in that much dough. There are only two films I would actually go out of my way to put my own money into a release. Hunter in the Dark and Yakuza Graveyard. I seriously would pay for the licensing costs for Yakuza Graveyard if someone would be willing to release it.

I’m just here, waiting for Demonlover to be announced for Criterion from director Olivier Assayas. Didn’t Janus Films get the rights here in the States?

Don’t want to get a region free player for one movie, but on the other hand, no more region locking to worry about.

It’s an issue when you own so much stuff but put out like four or five things a month, not all of which are Janus.

Kobayashi box is what dreams are made of.

A Kurosawa box would seem likely to come some time soon though (shocking it hasn't been done already).

Also a Mizoguchi box perhaps?

We need our first Japanese director's box!

I'd hope that the movies of Kinuyo Tanaka will get released as a box set since it's currently showing in theaters right now and they have enough titles to make one. I feel like a Tanaka boxset is likely. Same can be said with Obayashi, who has a good handful of works on the Criterion Channel.

Wouldn't the no re-releases part rule out Le Trou? I assume he meant no upgrades by that.
