I haven't watched the streaming versions, but I have both films on BD from Gaumont. They're both great films with Gabin working with two of the best actors from the next generation in Delon and Belmondo.

I hope we do too!

Is there a reason it would be in November though?

Barnes & Noble has a 50% Off Sale on Criterion Titles in November and July every year. November is, in my opinion, their biggest month when it comes to releases, so they always save up some pretty popular or high demand title for both July and November.

It's also the month that they released both the Bergman and Fellini sets. Godzilla set was released on Oct. 29, 2019.

It seems like they tend to push some of their biggest releases for the month before Christmas that does allow it to coincide with the B&N sale.

How much would a Kurosawa set go for during the Barnes & Noble Sale?

I mean, we'd need to know first how much the regular price would be.
I'm guessing their biggest problem has been Ran, which Lionsgate owns here. Have Criterion ever released a Lionsgate movie before?
I'm still just hoping for individual releases of Drunken Angel, Stray dog, The bad sleep well, Red Beard and dersu uzala and I can die happy.

Maybe I'm just being an idiot, but I live in fear thinking about the math required to figure that out. The price could be high and low at the same time defying all laws of nature, and no doubt causing a scandal along the way. I can already picture the set, and it's the most beautiful release Criterion has ever made, at least in my dreams.

Here are my predictions that I've kind of scattered throughout a couple posts, as well as a couple from others that I think are possible:

American Factory
The Crime of Monsieur Lange
Medicine for Melancholy
Prince of Broadway
Buck and the Preacher (50th anniversary this year, and with Poitier passing, it would be a fitting time to release it).
Re: French Film. French classic you might have already bought elsewhere makes it seems like it is a film that has been readily available already to purchase.

Yeah, but it's this part at the end: "no rereleases or 4Ks type of month." that seems to imply there's no releases that Criterion previously put out. Grande Illusion was actually my first thought too when I saw French classic, as I'm pretty sure Criterion has that back now, but the no rereleases wording seems to rule that out for August at least.

That’s good to know, the CGI looked pretty bad. Trailer looked interesting to me, and the OST was pretty good. Good to hear someone else has watched the movie, since it’s hard to find on streaming.

My guess on a Kurosawa box price would be either $199 or $250. Half of that on sale of course. Now if it includes some UHD discs that might change the calculation (certainly if Ran is included it would need to be a UHD since that's already available elsewhere).

Am I correct that the Coming Soon page usually removes the oldest month's releases the day of announcements? I know I noticed that last month, and I'm sure others too, but just trying to figure out if that in itself is a tell-tale sign of the day they're doing announcements. So far, nothing has changed with that page.
