Incredibly stoked for Daddy Longlegs and Frownland.

I don't actually know much about either of these movies, but I love the dark, stressful, chaotic energy on display in the Safdie Bro's newer movies, and it sounds like these two films have that in spades.

So the guy who leaked the hints was right. Anyone know where they are getting their info from?

Frownland is Tiny Furniture level cringe. It makes Dumbland look like Citizen Kane.

DumbLand, the David Lynch thing? That was hilarious for such a low-effort, goofy little side-project of his, haha. I haven't seen Frownland yet but even just reading about it, it already sounds more inspired than Tiny Furniture.

Yeah, plus Josh Safdie did the illustration that's the basis for the cover of Frownland too.

I think this might be the most muted reaction to a Criterion announcement I've seen on these boards.

To be frank, personally speaking, I don't think I've ever seen a more uninteresting set of announcements.

I agree. I think most people rather not say anything at all if they can't say something nice. I'm sure somebody is happy with these announcements

I might have missed it, but I didn't see any superfan talking about how, sure, they haven't heard of any of the movies, but they're going to get all five releases anyway.

I'd like to think that this is to help some of us save money for a Kurosawa box that's hopefully coming soon.

I'm interested in Buck and the Preacher, but the rest aren't anything I'm particularly interested in. I'd like to watch Daddy Long-legs, but don't know that I'd blind buy it, even though I love Good Time . Hopefully Criterion can drop a UHD of that, I've tried to avoid the US blu-ray and haven't bothered to import in hopes that a UHD might come.

All I want from Criterion is an upgrade of The Element of Crime.

I'm guessing Von Trier is off the table for the foreseeable future. At least from Criterion.

I wish there was more of a balance. Put in a few titles that have been mostly overlooked, and a few requested titles. Last month was good in that they announced a few requested titles, and this month is a month where I can't say I've heard anyone requesting any of the titles. Still, not the end of the world, as long as they give us CURE in October.

Heck, I've only heard of one of these titles.

Hard pass for me this month, even come sale time. Thankfully, plenty of previous releases still to pick up.

I'd bet that it would most likely be $150 (Not MSRP) on the 50% off sale. Kurosawa has a lot of movies like Bergman did (The boxset was $299.99 MSRP for ~40 movies).

Now if the titles were all 4K UHDs... (Price would be very )

I've only heard of one title from this slate, I've also seen it. Buck and the Preacher which is a great western, it's on the list to pick up.

The rest I have no idea about which is good to me, because it introduces me to new films and it saves me money. The ones that look interesting to me I'll see if I can watch before potentially buying.
