Plus many times after the first month or so, the disc format tends to go on sale faster.
Another benefit to the disc version, you can uninstall and delete the updates if they remove content that you preferred over the update. Games like Battlefront 2 significantly changed the menu display content in a newer update compared to the older format and art.
Another Example? Biomutant on disc when played on PS4 Pro or PS5, is 4K 60 fps. The digital only game, when updated past version 1.0, downgrades the game without a choice, to 2K or less. I have full access to the 4K version thanks to the disc.
Plus discs install much faster than most people's internet download of the same digital version.
And for the sake of history, Cyberpunk on PS4 disc, reveals the severe downgrade that CD Projekt Red dumped onto the retail disc and called it a game worth $59.99. It's a reminder of the state of the game on launch before the updates or day 1 patches. It's history on that disc, considering the Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 release on December 10, 2020, was a major moment in video game history, and revealed how corrupt things can get, with CDPR only having the media post PC version reviews, forcing the PS4 reviews till days after its release.
There are many times a PS4 game is $59.99 digitally on PS Store, and being sold for $19.99 on disc.
Discs are fine for those who value discs.
The advantage to digital games? Instantly play the game without searching for a disc. A nice benefit. And sometimes Sony offers some good sales on digital games.

So, when your collection is lost in a natural disaster, fire or flood, what are you going to do? I'm just going to buy another device, log in and have all my games and movies again. Discs are archaic now. Physical media is dying and you can't stop it.
You can't play Battlefront 2 online unpatched. Playing with yourself and bots offline? Sad.
Biomutant sucks. Period
You get to install a disc AND a patch. Win. (sarcasm)
You are saying a disc is better because it has a defective or incomplete version of the game on it? And you can't play it online unpatched? WTF?
Everything goes on sale digitally. Usually very cheap.
