![]() ![]() He had a great run though. Everyone will talk about his scores for Blade Runner & Chariots of Fire (which are superb), but I love his score for 1492: Conquest of Paradise, & his Main Theme from Missing never fails to get me in the feels. R.I.P. |

The 1492 score is underappreciated, for sure

I own his Blade Runner score. Up there with the very best of John Williams.

So weird, my brother is a huge fan and he gave a small concert last weekend to lots of Vangelis fans with old 70s/80s synths in a style Vangelis would do it back in the day.
My brother even played my song as a surprise to me, which I called Vangelis. Surreal! R.I.P. |

Extremely talented artist and engineer, who in addition to composing some of the best scores, he was also great in his collaborative works, like with YES/YES singer Jon Anderson.
His controversial position on not wanting to attend award ceremonies was also respectable. Unfortunately, his position on that and general reclusive nature might've been taken as a sign of disrespect by some people in Hollywood and I wouldn't be surprised if it prevented him from being considered for more films. Never the less, his music remains timeless. R.I.P. Vangelis Oh, and I also just felt like I should add a little lighthearted clip, the race scene from Mr. Mom, which you can clearly tell was inspired by Chariots of Fire and Vangelis' score. Last edited by Youre My Boy Blu!; 05-20-2022 at 08:31 PM. Reason: Adding the Mr. Mom Race Scene, inspired by Chariots of Fire/Soundtrack |
