While both you guys have nicer gear than me, I've mostly put off updating my pics because of the "nice clean comfy" aspect LOL...While I'm always updating the gear, I've been putting off the aesthetics as the wife and I will be figuring out the "retirement" home situation sooner than later. It's only going to get worse in the next few days as I had to put her on a plane to Florida this morning after her mom ended up in the ICU. She usually comes down once a week to clean up my one man frat party. The beer cans are still there from my LEAFS first round exit...

Location will depend on what the kids do after university. My wife wants to get out of the city. I only require a "blank slate" basement to build on the inspiration I get from "peeping" on the builds I see here.

What I love most about this entire hobby of collecting movies, and the nice gear with which we enjoy them, is being able to share the movie viewing experience with my loved ones. I can't do that by wearing headphones, now can I? The only way for all of us to enjoy immersive sound is with a real surround sound set-up with all of the necessary speakers properly placed about the viewing room.

I still hope to add a subwoofer to my arrangement someday to make that aural experience even more immersive, but for now my 9 speakers do a pretty decent job. I very much doubt that any pair of headphones could provide more enjoyment than what I already have.

A personal note follows behind spoilers:

Even though my hearing is not what it use to be, I can hear fine without the Headphones. I think I have explained this before, the Headphones are to watch the main TV late at night. I could crank up the sound to what ever I want. I've had Movie Nights with Family and Friends, and for the Movies we watch, mostly dialog and background music, my setup is fine. My Headphones are getting old and may need an upgrade, there are some real nice ones out there!

I have always liked to watch movies at THX certified levels... My wife and kids are convinced that I am hearing impaired.
A couple of years ago, I was in a bad car accident. Part of the work up they did on me involved placing me in blacked out chamber to test my hearing. Nobody was more surprised than me to find out that my hearing was better than perfect...

Now... my annual physical results are a whole other story... despite studying really hard, I failed the blood test...

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully there aren’t too many lingering effects from it if any.

I have a number of concussion related issues that affect my daily life... but honestly, playing hockey and rugby in an age before we took head injuries seriously, and valued masculine toughness, did more cumulative damage... the accident just finished me off.

I know I'm in the last 3rd of my life, and that physically it won't be my best 3rd, but my pursuits are somewhat mellower... I've actually enjoyed the fact that I can often rewatch an old classic as though it is new to me...lol..

Damn. Sorry to hear. I wouldn’t trade growing up when we did for any other timeframe though, but it did come with some costs. I know I was in the ER repeatedly for various sports and other hijinx related mishaps as well, and that stuff can definitely catch up to you. Hell, I just rewatched Murder on the Orient Express as the first movie on the new projector, and I couldn’t remember who did it! And that movie came out 5 yrs ago!

Went ahead and placed my order for the [REC] Collection BD and Northman 4K disc through GRUV. Grand total for me was $62.57 (both orders will also ship for free) for an average per title cost of $12.51 each (5 titles). I also used the 20% off coupon that they have.

Ehh all I care about is Dolby Digital. I really wish my gear supported DTS, but I got my Roku system on the cheap, and more and more things seem like they're dropping support for DTS too. Like my Samsung TV - the 2018 and 2019 models I think would at least pass DTS or decode it into DD, but now for 2020 it's like they totally dropped that feature. Not sure why I can't just buy a license to do it, but it is what it is. My Xbox One S can decode to multichannel DD also so that's another solution. I like that more movies are coming out with Dolby TrueHD Atmos on the Blu-ray so at least that has a DD core my gear can use to get multichannel audio. Maybe a couple years down the road I'll buy a surround receiver that can do both (Dolby and DTS).

Why not ask cheez avenger ^^ about his setup. IIRC, his investment was quite modest but he seems very pleased with it.
