why is blu ray better than HD?

You know, whenever the subject of the format war comes up w/ someone not very knowledgeable of it, they immediately say that Blu-ray will lose because Sony doesn't share its technology (this actually came up last week with me). I then go on to explain how Toshiba is the only hardware supporter of HD DVD (basically) and then I name off all companies who make BD players (thanks to IFA my list is much longer now!). That usually opens up their eyes, then you tell them of the sales advantages for software, and that all PS3s have a BD player.

Also, about the porn comment, you can buy porn on Blu-ray (Vivid has at least one title out on it, I think. I know "Debbie Does Dallas...Again," was announced for it, and there is Japanese porn on BD).
