My older sister when I was watching Rambo: First Blood Part II as a kid in the early 90's....

"Why didn't they just call it Second Blood?"

I missed Robocop? Damn! I associate Robocop with my first ever trip to a cinema... My mother took me to a re-release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs when I was five years old and Robocop was playing on one of the other screens. It was love at first sight seeing that poster in the lobby and I asked my mother if we could go and see that instead, which of course she said no and I wouldn't have been allowed in, anyway. Seeing a re-release of Robocop would have rectified that somewhat... Oh well. I must say, seeing The Godfather 1 & 2 (and even 3) on the big screen was a privilege ; made me appreciate them even more in some ways.

I've developed a fondness for tat, not gonna lie, but the reams of stuff with those EverythingBlu-type releases is overkill. I mean, it's all useless guff anyway, I just don't want too much of it in any one release!

As for the disc that's swaddled in all that tat, it's worth reiterating what I've been told about the upcoming balls-out Rambo 1-5 set: that it was Lionsgate who've done all the running with the OG audio and whatnot, the edict didn't come down from StudioCanal and it was pointed out to me that the special features on the ZavvithingBlu set is the exact same list as the current SC First Blood UHD/BD. It's not the worst UHD to have, I'm very happy with it, but this US set is gonna be a belter so unless someone is absolutely desperate for all those tchotchkes I'd wait and see. I mean, nothing's getting released tomorrow so there's plenty of time to see how it all shakes down.

Zavvi and EverythingBlu; a wet dream for Instagrammers with heaving shelves of bloated, overpriced 'collector's editions' internet-wide.

Saw On Her Majesty's Secret Service last night. I've seen all the Bond re-releases so far and to my surprise, O.H.M.S.S got the biggest audience at my cinema, even more than Goldfinger and Thunderball. People even seemed to be eating up the scenes with"Hilly", though I felt like twatting two youngsters sitting next to me who were being derisory on occasion ; after the "I should have had you gift wrapped" line, the kid sitting next to me said very clearly "what the f*** is this film about?!" To be honest, his confusion did give a certain kind of perverse satisfaction.

I don't imagine the new super-duper box set getting released over here, if it's a full set. After all Rambo IV (or John Rambo like it should've been called) was a Sony release over here and is still yet to receive the 4K treatment on this side of the pond. I guess StudioCanal could just release the first three as a "trilogy" like they did in other countries, but that would mean no extended cut of Last Blood.

You are quite correct, SC don't have the UK rights to all five. The full enchilada will be US only. SC will be doing some anniversary stuff of their own, of which this tat-tat-a-tat set is surely part, but they've done their own new bonus features which is why it's odd that the zavvi set is only showing the existing features. Preliminary listings have been wrong before though, natch.

There's going to be duelling Rambos in the quest to get our cash (yet again).

In terms of extras, the only thing I would want at this stage is maybe some Stallone commentaries for the sequels. I think enough time has past that Stallone can admit he was the one who really directed Part II rather than Cosmatos, but maybe Stallone is still too apprehensive to admit that... to be honest, it wouldn't be a good look for him if he did.

Well, I've bought these films probably 879 times over the years, looks like this is gonna be the 880th time.
