Yes I quite agree. It's definitely one of those occasions where you're glad to hand over the responsibility and you can sit back and relax that the choices have already been made. Takes the pressure away.

On a sepearate note can someone remind me; is the criterion half-price sale a month long thing or just 24 hours? Am I right i thinking it's coming up soon, July or August maybe? As I'm in the UK I always thought it was something out of bounds to me but I'm going to give stackry a tryout this time round.

The Barnes & Noble sale lasts for the entire month, starting in July.

If you're asking about Criterion's direct half-off sales, those are only 24 hours (usually), and the next one should be in October. Shipping is free to a US address with $75 or more. As mentioned, the next B&N sale should be in July, lasts a month, and shipping to a US address is free with $35 or more.

You don't really have to wait for any of those depending on what you're looking for, as Amazon has plenty of titles at half-off or more right now. You might not be able to see that if you have Amazon connected to a UK address, but once you switch to a US one they should all appear.

As you said you are in the UK, I have to ask if Criterion ship outside of the US? I don't think so.

Eureka in the UK are going 4K UHD with the first 3 Police Story films. The third one is also available a seperate BD release. Might be of interest for those of you who want to upgarade these to UHD.

Probably going to be a while. Criterion takes a long time with releasing expected or ones that are most likely going to happen. I remember having to wait on Le Cercle Rouge for 2 years after Army of Shadows was announced before it actually got re-released. I don't think Police Story would be one of those titles that Criterion is interested in releasing in 4K UHD, but I'd still buy it, nonetheless.

I found 2 Criterion blus at Goodwill today for $3.99 each. The tags were labeled DVD, and the blus are 2 bucks more, so I saved a little. 8 1/2 was one I picked up and it didn’t have the booklet and the case was FUBAR. Was disappointed the book was missing, since I love to have the complete collection, but the price was too good to pass up. Maybe I can come across one in the future.

I can't see Criterion releasing these in 4k, let alone having a package as awesome as Eureka's. I mean, a 100 pages booklet, a hardbox, each movie with their own cases and reversible original artwork? I love Criterion but that's never going to happen. Plus, you can't beat Kung fu bob!
