Yeah, their system seems to adjust for stock locations, so sometimes they won't even ship to you, or the shipping price changes with different combinations in your cart. The sales still seems to be partly active now, FYI.

Got my first ever John Wayne BD today, Brannigan from Kino. Not a really big fan of westerns (with only a few exceptions) or older military films so I kind of ignored his filmography. I do however like 70s cop movies so picked this one up. Never seen it but am looking forward to it.

I own some German releases which replicate Kino extras but often have translated titles, like Mirage, Avanti and The Wanderers.

That release of Strange Days is pretty good though.

What I don’t get is people who import from Germany as it’s a little bit cheaper in a multibuy when there’s a local release of the exact same disc. But I also don’t mind having translated titles as it shows there’s a whole world of cinema, distributors and releases, though it can provide trouble for alphabetising a shelf. But usually I have the translation memorised so I don’t get confused, however sometimes the translation is miles away from what the English title actually was.

@Kino Lorber Insider,

besides Tropic Thunder any more DreamWorks (Paramount) titles coming to UHD? No titles, just a yes or no answer.

If you like it, I also recommend McQ, the Duke's other 70s cop movie. It's on blu-ray from Warner.

Brannigan is a bit more unique with its London setting, whereas McQ is clearly trying to mimic Dirty Harry and Bullitt albeit with a Seattle setting.

Kino Insider - Of the 4 1988 titles in the MGM deal, can you say how many are new to Blu-ray? Thanks again.

Default One Bogart film?

Kino,
I own tons of your blu rays. Thank you.
But American Film Institute and most other list of greatest actors has the same guy at the top -- Humphrey Bogart. And I imagine most lists of most popular actors ever likely has him at the top too.
Yet Kino Lorber has released a grand total of ONE film with Bogart in it (Deadline USA). And that was SIX years ago in 2016.
Kino, how can this be? Why?
How about releasing Sahara? Will Columbia not let it loose?

I think we have 1 more DW title in the deal, but I can't say if it's a 4K one or a BD one.

Most of his films are with Warner Brothers and we're not working on any new deals with Sony.

So no more deals with Sony in the foreseeable future? Damn. Either way, I'd rather see titles from Paramount anyways since they have a lot of the good stuff. Plus Gaumont is in the future as well and always hoping for more Studio Canal.

Hopefully you guys will crack the WB puzzle at some point and an even bigger puzzle the Disney one. Those Fox titles lamenting in Disney hell is not something anyone wants to see.

Most of what Imprint releases seems to be Paramount and with Kino getting that deal, I would just wait and see what Kino releases. The Kino disc will have better compression anyways and maybe new transfers.

@Kino Lorber Insider,

Have you ever seen Best of the Best (1989) or Sidekicks (1992) available on any lists?

Understand if you can not say. Cheers!

You're reading into that wrong. They just made a deal with them. A new deal wouldn't be made so soon again.

Yeah, but usually they mention they have other deals in the pipeline. They already mentioned they probably will have another deal with Paramount in 2023 and sometimes even after a week or two after a Universal deal they mention they plan on having another deal in the future.

In the past I believe they have mentioned they hope to have another deal with Sony in the future, but this time they said they have no plans for a future deal. Either way I hope I'm wrong and you're right because the Sony well runs deep.

Hey KLI: speaking of Imprint, do you have any idea how they're able to release region-free Blu-rays? I'm surprised that US labels haven't complained...or maybe they have. Thanks!
