I've always liked Jessica Alba, from her days on "Flipper" to more present roles. I just thought she was a terrible choice for Susan/Sue, and I think it showed.

Personally, I wish Rachel McAdams (another name mentioned prior to Alba) would have made a great Susan Storm...

Lame.

The first two films were pretty damn good. And I hate the idea of going "Dark" with Fantastic Four. They shouldn't be "Dark", the whole theme of Fantastic Four is about family. A lighter family friendly theme is much more in keeping with the comics. I knew that trainwreck Dark Knight would lead to crap like this.

"Daredevil", possibly should have been an "R" as well... along with other issues...

There is NOTHING wrong with a PG rating for a film, as long as it suits the style of the film, and in the case of the "Fantastic Four", it does. The comic book has always (for the most part) been about a family who goes on "fantastic" adventures... and would certainly fit in the style of films that get PG ratings.

Although I did not like either Fantastic Four movie, I thought they did relatively well at the box office, didn't they? I'm surprised we are not just getting a part 3.

Too make a good F4 movies they should look at what Brad Bird did with The Incredibles. Good mix of action along with drama & comedy. That's what a good F4 movie should be like IMO

And there's the solution. Ditch the Fantastic Four movie and make a sequel to The Incredibles. That film had far more heart, action and entertainment than the first 2 F4 movies combined!
(yes, I know it's 2 completely different studios - just wishful thinking on my part...)

I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw both FF movies. Maybe it's because I had such low expectations or the fact that the last attempt was so bad it was never released that I was getting ready for the worse but they were certainly not bad.

Actually, I wouldv'e liked to have seen the current cast doing another movie, perhaps with another director or with scipt going on a different direction (not darker).

And I'll never get tired of watching Alba on a skin tight suit... EVER.

makes no sense.....imo they went in the right direction with the first FF4, they just got the wrong actors to play the characters and the wrong director. No need to make it "dark".

I liked the actors, especially Chris Evans, who I thought nailed the Human Torch character. The others were pretty good too, except the guy who plays Viktor, he just sucks.

I have now invented a drinking game *hiccup!* after you. Congrats!

OT, I absolutely loved "The Incredibles"- that's how you do a PG family superhero movie with style, heart and a great story. I liked the 2nd FF movie, but mostly because of the Silver Surfer- he really made it for me. My 4 year old likes it as well, so I may pick up the first one at some point.

To me, relaunching is always interesting as it gives you a chance to learn from your mistakes. Hollywood has certainly done so with superhero movies- look at Batman (no comment from you Beast), the Punisher and the Hulk as a couple of recent examples. I'm open to the idea of relaunching it, but I'm willing to bet they'll flub it up, again.

I don't mind a reboot. I liked Rise of the Silver Surfer though. It will be interesting to see who they cast this time.

Who do you guys think should be cast to play Human Torch?

Probably, I think they have to make a movie every so many years or the rights revert back to Marvel. You see they squeezed out the turd of a movie wolverine, to keep the rights to all that stuff.

The Director's Cut has an "R" rating. The theatrical cut was PG-13.

Yeah, that's why they took the direction of not directly showing him in FF2.

A giant purple guy in a pope hat would look rediculous.

I didn't mind the CGI Galactus THAT much, just thought they might as well left him off-camera completely.
