Very nice how they let Kyle have the corridor scene in this one where in the past it would certainly have been reserved for one of the bigger characters.
Also like how the main bridge crew isn't always on duty. In past series it seemed stuff only happened when the exact same shift was on duty. And after early season 1 of TOS if Sulu, for example, was in an episode he was 95% sure to be to be seen only at the helm -- not in quarters or another part of the ship. Hope this doesn't change.
It definitely makes it feel a bit more 'lived in' than TOS, yeah.

Another great episode. I really like this show. Trek returns to its roots and it's glorious.

It streams in 5.1 and 4K DV from Paramount+.

Yep, 5.1 - little bummed since Halo is Atmos so Paramount+ can do it if they wanted to.

Yeah, Atmos would be nice. That being said I was surprised that it streamed in actual 4K this time around. The first three seasons of Discovery were "just" 1080p with DV. Season 4 had some episodes in 4K and others in 1080p. Nice to have this show in 4K DV straight away.

Unless you're getting DSC somehow else the entire 4th season, as well as PIC Season 2 has been 4K/DV the entire time.

I thought so too, but when I watched the Discovery episodes on Paramount+ the day they became available, some of the episodes on my AppleTV 4K had a 4K-Logo others just HD. They were all Dolby Vision but as mentioned the playback info showed HD for some episodes especially in the later half of the seasons. Maybe it was just a labeling error from the AppleTV-Player.

Am I the only one here who doesn't hate Spock's hair?

It could just be trauma of bowl cuts after watching Stranger Things 4, but I like to think that isn't it.

I wouldn't count on it. UHD TV show releases have pretty much dried up (and there haven't been many to begin with). It a niche within a niche ...

The people making these new Star Trek shows are Star Wars fans that can't even make a good SW film like Jar Jar Abrams .
Kirk was the first human to encounter the Gorn , zero respect for for continuity !

Take your ridiculous toxic gatekeeping somewhere else.

You guys never know your TREK history. They didn't see the Gorn in person on SNW. Kirk was the first to encounter a Gorn and live. They fought an entire war with the Romulans without seeing what they looked like too.

Grow up and learn your TREK before you spout crap like "Jar Jar Abrams" - who's a director and not the writer of the first 2 Kelvin films.

The Gorn had attacked the human colonists that we see early in the episode Arena, so Kirk was obviously not the first to encounter them.

Nice try though.

La’an said they never saw them. They just heard them . No canon violation here.

You really think by this point that Berry is the type to apply rigorous logic?

We don't know that, because all but one of the colonists were killed. And who knows how many other attacks there were earlier.

Later it turned out the whole thing was a trap for the Enterprise, which is exactly the same tactic that the Gorn used in the SNW episode (and perfectly congruent with La'an's story). The various Trek shows have their share of continuity issues, but this is not one of them.
