Fortunately we know this won't be sent to the House of Slam (Sterling, RKS notwithstanding) so if worse it turns out the same as the excellent original AAA Grundman vinyl or Sony SACD, that should work out well for folk that have neither.

Here's a look at Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Thriller 25 (24/96, DR5) on top and Sony SACD (DSD>24/88.2, DR12) on bottom:



I know dynamic range isn't everything, but Thriller 25 is mastered too hot for me. The longer the song goes on, the more I want to turn it down. When I'm listening to the SACD, by the time the outro hits I've got it cranked.
