Elvis in film is like Superman to me.
The 70's version was best (Kurt Russell/Reeves) with uneven results. They try like hell every since to get it right and it never quite gels. Both are too big to be explained. You either get it or you don't. It doesn't make either any less of global icons despite the attempts by so many to replace them (Batman/Beatles etc...). There can only be one pioneer and the rest just came after. |
