Despite the print damage, I thought Hard Gore looked fine. I assume the elements weren't in great shape and that this was probably the best it could have been done.

The movie is a damn trip! So wild. Absolutely enjoyed it. Would've loved some context extras, but I imagine with this being 45 years old, any actors/crew are dead or embarrassed to participate.

There was no attempt made at a restoration. All they did was scan the negative to 4k.

Massacre on Hard Gore:

Quote:
Brand New 4k Scan from ONLY known Complete 35mm print
For comparison what they wrote about The Bad Pack:

Quote:
Brand New 4k Scan and Restoration from Original Camera Negatives
If they did their best I would have no complaints. The problem is they did nothing. Buying this release will only encourage them to do the same with future releases.

Yeah im fine with rough looking prints for a movie like this, but a premium price for that and no features is high. You could get 12 movies like that for the same price in one of the vinegar syndrome storefront collections.

The Storefront collections didn't sell enough to be profitable and continue as a series. VS learned they couldn't make a go of that model. I think a small label like Massacre likely needs to sell the 1,000 units at around thirty dollars to make it worthwhile to even produce the product. Fair enough if people feel it's not worth it for purchase, if they don't think it presents a good value, they shouldn't buy it. But a title like this is aimed at a very niche audience, I really doubt they'd sell a lot more copies of Hard Gore at $15.

If it was $20 I'd buy it. The movie doesn't appeal to me really but I love low budget 70s stuff and $20 would be a decent price for a blind buy. $30 is just too much.

It's more like a Peekarama release than "low budget 70s stuff", in case you need swing the $.

It was Louis C Justin that was rude beyond belief, not Jason. If you are reading this, sorry for making you guilty by association, Jason. I have actually emailed you before and you replied to me and were cool as hell. It’s a shame you are not filling their customer service instead of their orders. It would have resulted in Massacre Video still having 1 more paying customer.
I've had a terrible encounter with Louis Justin too. He's very rude and has absolutely no regard for the customers who support him.

I wouldn’t read too much into that mate. They have been hinting at some titles being released for 2 years.

I need one thing. If they don't release anything before their next sale then who cares really. They barely release anything.

Ditto, though whatever sliver of humanity I have left tells me I might not be able to handle the Men behind the sun, lol

These in addition to Suicide Dolls (1999) are all I'm waiting on.

Waiting for Men Behind the Sun, too, and the promised re-release of the Black Devil Doll From Hell DVD.

I noticed that Grindhouse Video had a number of Massacre Video releases in their latest update. Just in case someone doesn't want to bother with ordering directly from MV.

I picture the men hiding behind the sun peeking out like toddlers giggling every time the release gets mentioned

Though not a Blu-ray, I would love for them to bring back Black Past. Didn’t even know the film existed until after it went OOP.

They don't consider a title from $34.95 down to $29.99 a sale, do they? It does say "Sale" on their site but I'm hoping it is still coming with better deals at some point...
