The "Remastered" BD by Fox was horrible, i kept the Warner version...
Should we expect anything different for the 4K disc?? |

I am normally not picky when it comes to color regrades, but the 4k streaming "Definitive Edition" and the new 1080p BR are such a step down from the natural 90's film look of the original WB BR that I was shocked. It looks more like Body of Lies than any other movie I can think of and that's not a compliment lol. Desaturated, white balance completely off of a natural filmic look, crushed blacks, and a barely present HDR presentation. I have little to no hopes for this, except for that one post a few pages back saying that the HDR presentation for the digital version was updated? Maybe I could permit the new color tone if it was properly mapped to a wider gamut and full HDR presentation.

I could see the August 9th date as being legit since the upcoming Michael Mann "Heat 2" novel will also be released on August 9th. It would not surprise me if all along the novel and 4K were to be released at the same time since both were originally expected to be released in late 2021. I would have guessed that the 4K was pushed back to August 2022 because of the Heat 2 novel being delayed until then. Either way, August 9th will be a great day for Heat fans.

I just bought the Blu-ray on Amazon as it hit $6 (I had some leftover gift card money so it came out to about $1.50) but since I’ve done it, I’ve sealed the fate of an imminent 4K announcement. So, you’re welcome.

Watched the Blu-ray last night, hopefully will watch the 4K in August…
The August 9th retailer date was talked about a few weeks ago, when some links appeared, before it was once again banished to the Wishlist section. Last edited by Ben_C; 06-06-2022 at 07:30 AM. |

The one on streaming looks dim and depressing. I bet it never exceeds 150 nits as I couldn't spot any standout HDR moments or anything beyond standard dynamic range. |

Maybe. I'll just point out that this one was listed the same time as other Disney / Fox titles. Also, where do you suppose they're getting the info with an order and release date from?
