I know this thread is old, but I just now found it...

For me, anything from Magenpan starting with the 1.7i or up. I almost went with a set of the 2.x series years ago when I was going to build a dedicated 2-channel room, but I ended up going a different direction. They aren't the prettiest to look at, but Magenpan planars are the most transparent speakers I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.



A runner up would be the Von Schweikert VR series if I were to stick with a cabinet design.

Von Schweikert VR-4 (discontinued). These blew me away.



Von Schweikert current VR Reference series VR-55. Been wanting to listen to these. I happen to live in the vicinity and am way overdue for a trip. If they're still there, that is. Haven't been to their showroom or checked in on them in years.
