Thank you. I did not anticipate that TGTBTU would sellout during pre-orders and missed out on the slip.

So angry.. I got the time mixed up. I was already to go to buy TGTB&TU slip right at 11 am but I realized it was 10 am. I'm out west and it was mentioned at 1 pm ET. I got it mixed up with military time because my job uses military time all the time and I subtracted 2 hours instead for 3 hours for adjustment. Arrghh. I was long awaiting for this. I just wanted to vent. I know that some of the buyers bought and are gonna dump them on ebay since they probably already have copies and are buying to resell. I hope the dumping causes a market drop on prices on ebay. I'm willing to pick-up the slip for $30 tops.. but if I can't then.. I'm just not gonna own the 4K movie. Sorry I'm just so frustrated that I wanted to vent real bad.

Another way to stop the scalpers: the industry stops doing slipcovers entirely.

Another way for the industry to contract further, because there are a lot of collectors out there who want the slip with their bluray...

Wait just to clarify, you don't want the movie at all if it doesn't come with a slipcover? Because this sale was literally JUST the slipcover, you still need to provide your own disc and amaray case

Besides, it's the kind of title that the Presents line is made of. I mean, whether it's a significant title, cult, previously unavailable classics or big moneymakers like Flashdance or Fatal Attraction to name a few, this film is certainly on brand. As for the latest announcements (Rough Cut and Back to the Beach), I do agree they have been a bit random. However, if you think about it, they both have their selling points (the former is a Burt Reynolds film making it's blu-ray debut and from a classic director, Don Siegel. While the latter, has the nostalgia factor and built in audience from the original Beach movies). I honestly wouldn't read much into these last announcements, as someone else (MifuneFan ?) pointed out, much like with what happens with WAC, these are probably favorites of whoever is making the decisions at the studio currently.
I could always be wrong though, maybe in the end Kino really does have it? Who knows at this point.
You may be right, but 2 years into the Presents line and there had been no indication of things working the way WAC does. Not much of a stretch to view it together with the fact that they're licensing out UHD's to assume it's quite possible they've simply had to change their model to adapt to the changing environment. I guess the coming months will give us an idea if this is correct or not.

Honestly the lesson for people who want slips is PREORDER.

All of us who preordered TGTBTU early got our slips. I get the problem that some people want to wait to see if the picture/audio quality is up to their expectations, but then you have to accept the risk that you might end up slipless.

That is so awesome, and I have to thank you with a post in addition to a thumbs up.

Personally, I have to check out as a guest on Paypal, and autofill doesn't work, so that's a lot of time typing. This enabled me to finish all the ordering nonsense and still grab a copy.

The price is almost what I paid for the 4K, but I have no problem at all with it, because I understand it's a favor, and some of what's involved with setting up the sale, distributing the slips, and dealing with the inevitable fallout from those who end up unhappy. So in the end it seems reasonable to me.

How and why I've fallen into this collector's Venus flytrap of wanting the damn things is quite another matter.

That is correct.. films that I own all have slips.. only ones that I have that don't have slips are ones that never came out with one to begin with.

The regular 4k of TGTBTU isn't rare..it's easily obtainable for regular prices. I would've bought it right afterwards if I was able to pick up the slip.

Based on the description, it sounds like a close cousin to The Long Hot Summer (and that's not a bad thing).

The problem with preordering is the movie is shipped by itself in an envelope and 99% of the time the corners of the slip are all smashed in. I remember seeing the 4k Mad Max on the shelf at Best Buy with pristine slips around the time preorders for TGTBTU went up and just thought , well I’ll pick one up there.

If the industry stopped doing slips, exactly zero collectors would stop buying new blu-rays.

Coming August 30th!

The Tenth Man (1988 TV Movie)
• Includes Both the 1.78:1 and 1.33:1 Versions of the Film
• Optional English Subtitles

Color 99 Minutes 1.33:1 | 1.78:1 Not Rated
Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (When Eight Bells Toll, The Silence of the Lambs, Nixon) stars with Kristin Scott Thomas (Bitter Moon, The English Patient) and Derek Jacobi (Three Sisters, TV’s I, Claudius) in this compelling World War II drama based on the novel by Graham Greene (The Third Man). Jean-Louis Chavel (Hopkins), a wealthy French lawyer living quietly under Nazi occupation, is seized in a random police raid and thrown into a Paris jail with 29 other innocent men. Marked for the firing squad, he convinces a poor, dying prisoner to take his place by promising his entire estate to the man’s penniless kin. Once freed, the guilt-ridden Chavel returns to his former home and tries to help the family of the man who died in his stead. As he falls in love with the dead man’s sister, Thérèse (Scott Thomas), a stranger (Jacobi in an Emmy-winning role) calling himself “Chavel” arrives on their doorstep. Co-starring Cyril Cusack (Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming) with first-rate direction by Jack Gold (Who?) and photography by Alan Hume (Runaway Train), The Tenth Man is a stylish, powerfully acted thriller from one of the twentieth century’s most acclaimed authors.

Never heard of THE TENTH MAN, but sounds interesting with a solid cast. Any thoughts on this one if anyone has seen it?
