Yeah, I don't think he ever fully recovered the ability to speak after his stroke.

He recorded a commentary for "Magnum Force" blu ray too which is very good.

I'm buying this one. I had the original shout factory blu ray of Red Dawn that came out a year few years ago. But I sold it, and most of my collection, to a local movie/music store when I was low on money. I've regretted it ever since.

Regarding the remake:

In an earlier reply to this comment, I said I had not seen the 2012 version of Red Dawn. I didn't see it in theaters a decade ago because I was busy being my mom's main caregiver, and from what I'd heard about its production history, I suspected it would be a dud.

I also refused - and still refuse - to buy a home media release.

I did, unfortunately, watch it on Friday night because it's on Amazon Prime Video. I could have watched something else, but curiosity got the best of me, so I sat through the whole silliness - all 93 minutes of it.

The only thing that worked for me was the opening montage.

Anyone know what audio format this will have? The blu-ray.com page says DTS-HD but I've also seen someone say it has Atmos.

Knowing Shout it will have DTS-HD MA 2.0 & 5.1.

I wonder if this 4K release will correct the error, found on Shout's previous Blu, of not including all of the month titles except "September." I really hope it does. Those month titles give the movie a much more epic feel.

Also, will this release feature an actual restoration, or simply a new, 4K scan of the OCN?

Let's hope so even though I didn't buy it due to the inferior PQ compared to the MGM disc. If they didn't fix I will keep the MGM disc. I'll post UHD caps anyway though.

Yeah, I held off on Shout's Blu because the PQ was lackluster and the single, new extra feature was not enough of a boost for me to upgrade.

According to the review on this site, Shout's audio is better than the MGM release, but I still wish it had an Atmos track along with the original theatrical audio.

I'm hoping that I'll get a quality a/v boost with this new 4K, with the necessary title corrections. Milius is one of my all-time favorite writer/directors & I love this movie.

It's different. Nothing like those 90's era floating heads you saw on every Dimension/Miramax Blu-ray. I usually prefer original art but I really like this.
