If one wants the original cut, is it better to go for the 2005 two disc edition or the original in the snapper case? Both appear to be anamorphic. But 2005 is too close to the Warner DVD rot period and after losing so many Warner dual layer discs to rot, I wonder if the old snapper edition may be the safer bet?

Yes. The UHD stream is also dark. The latest restoration is the 2017 one. If you check the OP, it doesn't even say new, it says "previously restored". I'll credit Geoff D for advising that if you watch it, watch it in complete darkness.

I never had any issue with any of Disney's 66GB discs unlike other studios with their 100GB discs, most notably Warner and Lionsgate. And you can even check the Sony or Panasonic threads on the hardware sub forum, and see people constantly complain about freezing in LOTR, Dune, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, etc... And people telling them that it will be fixed in the next software update but it never ever will, and it's time to put this into light and stop ignoring the that there's an issue with 100GB discs. Good for Disney for not falling for the populist decision and giving the consumer a reliable technology, I wish other studios would have done that.

Wow, somehow, by quoting wikipedia, you've made your statement even more nonsensical!
Once again: Avatar was released in full 1,78:1 (you know what it means, right?) aspect ratio on DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and it's available in such version on digital, including Disney+. The question is: WHAT IMAX SCENES ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? |

The average bitrate for the whole transport stream inc audio and video will have to be ~50 Mb/s to fit Heat onto a UHD66. Not great, not terrible. But Disnee just seem to have the knack for making it work. |
