Thank you very much for the kind words, everybody!

Somehow I still feel kind of anxious that any moment now somebody hijacks the thread and I have to endlessly argue about one or two pro-Blu-Ray remarks I might have made/committed.

AVS HDM conditioning I guess...

hey I have like 9 posts at avs, no shout out for me? this is a wonderful place. I lurked at both for a long time before signing up here, then I went to avs to cause trouble, i'm an antagonist. poking the hd dvd bear as it were.

but it is ok to be critical of something you care about. like smacking your friend upside the head when they're thinking about doing something stupid. case and point would be upscaling on the ps3 or 24fps support. that's where hd dvd faults started no one will stand up and address its issues. they simply say ''well blu ray is still worse cuz.........''. its part of their desparation. but our last main problem will be gone with 1.1

region coding is a good thing as far as I see it. as an investor it makes sense fiscally to protect your data in such away. support of hd dvd is like supporting piracy. the only pirates I support are those with ships cannons and jolley rogers flying. and they are blu ray exclusive. unless you count that softcore porn attrocitty. wait....... what was I talking about..........

So what do you think about the Paramount deal?

Welcome theLion. I also frequent the avsforum HD sections, receivers, speakers and high-res surround sound forums. I've also had many arguments over there especially about BD-J since I am a JAVA developer and there is alot of misinformation over there.

You need to edit your original post and include my name !!!!!!!!!!!!

I would caution anyone here to not abandon AVS. Strategically speaking, if we let the HD-DVD fans take over the forums the FUD is all new people will see when researching which format to buy.

I would say dont fight, but stay active and help newbies when they ask questions.

my .02

BTW: I've been a lurker for a while and found this place through AVS as it was my first stop when researching blu-ray.

Default Welcome

Welcome to the forum, I like your post.

You will need to better explain these comments:

Being supportive and intrigued by Blu-Ray's capabilities and potential shouldn't make us closed-minded -

NO - not everything is good or even acceptable with Blu-Ray as a format (yet).

YES - there are some things HD-DVD is (still) better at and we all can and should learn our lessons here!

Trojan horses need not apply!

If you are genuine, welcome to Bluray.com

I won't abandon it -- I've been there since 1999! -- but in the HDM forum I am very careful how I ask questions so that I keep the high road and don't show any bias one way or the other. Since I'm not a rabid frothing at the mouth "Sony is the root[kit] of all evil, HD DVD saves the world and gives babies free ice cream" kind of poster I'm sure I'm not viewed with much favor, but I do what I can not to provide ammo for the other side to take potshots.

Oh, and welcome!

Welcome,
After being a long time member of AVS I am deeply disappointed in what it has become. From time to time I might check our the digital projector section but only as a guest. What the managment has let happen to that place is horrible. It was such a fine forum too.

Hmmm. Someone who can form an opinion from the facts, and offer critical commentary. Hmmm. I don't know. I just don't know.

Welcome. There are many excellent souls at AVS that I hope get a chance to find their way here.

I truly hope AVS can clean things up and return to the greatness it once was.
