Don't be surprised if this is delayed for months up to a year.

It was supposed to start filming yesterday. There were rumors of only a few days delay but the actors who played Sam, Mindy, and Chad were all in Canada days ago according to their IG stories, but now they've gone back home.

There's been so much drama going down that there's probably a few reasons why it's been delayed.

There's also rumors Hayden Panettiere isn't vaccinated and couldn't get into Canada.

And then for the past 2 days there's been a crazed fan from Canada who went to Montreal to stalk the set, posted pics of supposed locations and a production sheet on a building, etc. And he was supposedly arrested but let go the same day.

Good to see Hayden working on that career comeback.

And it sounds like they either fully expected Neve to sign on (if you listen to the commentary to 5, they said that if the OG cast hadn't signed on, they were screwed, despite what they said in the press) or they tried to move on without her and the studio saw the recent backlash.

Looks like filming started today. Mason Gooding posted a pic of himself in the makeup trailer today. Things processing as planned.

I have a working theory: what if the producers have orchestrated this fiction that Neve is not returning, only because it will make the reveal of Sidney as the Ghostface killer all the more mind-blowing.

LOL Neve would NEVER sign on to a script where Sidney is the killer. She has too much respect for the character, the fans, and the legacy Wes built. Plus it’s a tired fan fiction twist that has been talked about for so long that it’s tired and it would be nothing but a stupid twist that would alienate most of the fan base.

And yet, many of those so called fans are demanding Lillard be brought back in the mix.

I personally think it's beyond time for Neve to exit. I have said it before, but other than having a kick cameo to talk to Dewey on the phone, why would she go back to face killers hunting tweeners she doesn't know? She has two babies and she just leaves them to go possibly die?

And Neve won't come back unless she survives every movie, so what...are they just gonna have her show up in every sequel to save the day?

How is it not tired already? Syd needs to be out of these movie moving forward.

Scream sequels should just be Ghostface gutting a group of teens leading up to the who did it twist in the end. You don't need Neve Campbell to make a Scream movie.

Same thing with the MCU....people refuse to just let it move on, just want to see Evans and Downey over and over again.

The reveal will be Neve is the killer but the character is Sydney’s long lost twin sister. She escapes at the end of the movie leading into SCREAM 7 where Sydney has to track her down.

This is really turning into a PR disaster. I’ve had many friends text me articles they’re seeing about this, and they aren’t even Scream freaks like me. So apparently the script was Sidney heavy (so says Jamie Kennedy), and they low ball her? And now look like a-holes in an era where women are supposed to be making some ground in empowerment and equality.

I have the perfect idea for how they can explain Sydney not being in Scream 6. What if she feels bad for all of the people around her that have been killed and she decides to go away to an island to whine about it and die?

That's how it's been spun but these movies have always been made for peanuts. It's what makes them profitable, and given that the fifth one actually had the lowest budget of them all in relative terms (if the first is adjusted for inflation it's still a good few million more) I'm not surprised that Paramount/Spyglass have baulked at Neve's aksing price, whatever it may have been.

She accepted x payday on 5 likely as a legacy thing, that if they were gonna get the movie made at all then the actors had to work for less (and it's not a coincidence that a good few legacy characters were killed off in 5), but with the franchise's viability reestablished and Neve as the star of the show she wanted the proper remuneration this time around.

It's a shame that a middle ground couldn't be reached as I can't believe that she's after a gargantuan paycheque - Avengers this ain't - but then it's all relative, if she came back for said peanuts and was requesting, say, five or ten times more for 6 then by blockbuster standards it's still a pittance, but too much for what Paramount want to pay.

Personally, I'm happy she told them to go **** themselves. Scream 5 was a disrespectful pile of shit (despite what they say) and I'm glad they're struggling now... if you want to shit on fans for being "toxic" you deserve what you get!

The majority of fans aren't "toxic" at all and making the plot about that was dumb, like most of the movie, as it's focusing on a minority group of shitheads and bigots, who do exist obviously, no denying it, but there's WAY WAY less of them than Hollywood makes out. Hollywood lumps anyone that's critical of bad content together with the bigots and it's not right! Your chickens are coming home to roost Radio Silence, and you deserve it! Good luck and DO NOT DARE BLAME THE FANS FOR YOUR FAILURES!

You are unusually angry. Scream 5 was great and the majority of fans and critics responded extremely well to it. Obviously it didn’t do the same for you but you seem very bitter.

How many times can she keep getting caught up in another Ghostface killing spree before it becomes comical that she keeps surviving? Ghostface doesn’t only have to come after her anyone, it’s a mask/identity that can used by any crazy person to go after any number of people for any number of reasons. I’m kind of glad they didn’t offer enough money for her to return since we get to see something different with a new set of characters hopefully not tied to any legacy ones.
