Watching this again tonight and I still think it looks very, very nice. For the life of me I will never understand what caused the FAH dude to so loudly and aggressively label this disc “trash” on his channel when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Something is wrong with that man’s settings, equipment, or sense of judgment. Possibly all three.

Looked good on my 900e, today, for a 2K UHD. Yeah, to bring it up again, telling the Films at Home guy that he needs to replace his 900h in order to review this IS snobbish. Review is probably bad anyway, but if he doesn't like it he doesn't like it. The TV won't turn a mediocre disc good. "Cheap out" you say. I know many of you are loaded, but 1500 dollars for a TV isn't cheap.

Tbh I think he specifically says he likes grain when something is shot on film/ supposed to have it. Im not disagreeing about his credibility as a reviewer but lets keep the facts straight here. Actually I think the dude probably heard Bill Hunt or whoever say that the disc sucks and he went with that and now won't back down from it. |

I know. Was just pointing out how dumb it is to believe upgrading a perfectly decent TV will change a 4K disc from mediocre to good for someone. What then of all the discs they have already praised to the high heavens? They'd probably just raise their standards and come to the same conclusion with the one disc.

Want to buy Inglourious Basterds in 4k on Amazon US (alongside Vertigo, Old, No Time To Die, Luca, Big Fish, Almost Famous, The Goonies and Beetlejuice - a big order). Can someone that has bought this movie recently please tell me if it still arrives with the slipcover??? Or any of the other 4K movies I also plan to buy, really (I'm gonna post this same question on the other threads as well) Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I just got this UHD and checked it out on my calibrated HZ980 in HDR10+. Honestly I am very surprised that some people say it looks too dark. Even with some (just a little) light coming into my living room as I viewed it in daytime it still looks really, really bright to my eyes. Almost too bright at a few instances but I do think Universal did a respectable job with the color timing overall. The increased contrast does help bring out much better dynamics in the image and looks especially satisfying in darker scenes. The Blu-Ray by comparison is fairly dark but for being in SDR it does have very little clipping at least which is really good.
As for sharpness it is a bit mixed. While aliasing can appear I still see more fine detail and the increased resolution in chroma does help plenty to give a more stable image. Grain is also much improved. One thing I personally dislike is that the intertitles are generated through the subtitles track which looks very pixellated. Would much prefer if they were baked into the image itself. Again, this film never looked bad and back in 2009 you could barely find a better looking Blu-Ray. Even to this day I still think it holds up very well for the format so I didn't expect much of an improvement with the UHD-BD. I was pleasantly surprised to find the UHD to be as good as it really is. Despite not being the same kind of posterboy for the format as the old Blu-Ray was, I still consider the UHD to be a good upgrade and clearly the best way to enjoy the film for now. |

Lol, so annoying that we have to mention his name when we talk about Inglourious Basterds UHD. It shouldn't even matter what he thinks of it. But yes, the disc is great.

I saw the review and I felt he got emotional when he was trashing the disc. I guess an enemy of his liked the UHD or something. But then again, some posters in here disliked it too so who knows. I just never understood the criticisms.
