Glad you like it. Their newer models with the big front panel display look really neat. No interest to me but I can see where some would really like it.

I have finished most of my movie copying and will start on my TV collection soon.

Congrats on the second home, when you say Fiber Networking what do you mean? Is it Fiber to your house then Cat5/6 Structured Wire throughout your home? Are you going to have Fiber Runs throughout your home, that would be real neat!

It was you who suggested moving if fiber isn’t available and turns out I sort of did.

I live in the country but just bought a beach house in Florida.

What I meant by fiber network is fiber runs into the house and then it’s all WiFi

I’m not going to hardwire the beach house.at least not yet.

My home theater has 2 fiber optic hdmi cables for video. One for the disc player and one for the other sources.

Hey that's great a Beach House, and I'm glad you have Fiber that is real important now. I think you should really consider Structured Wiring, especially with Fiber and at least to your Entertainment Center. It's a good idea before you move in, get some local Low Voltage Guys to make some Runs you won't regret it. WiFi is good for Mobile Devises or if you can't Hardwire. I'm sure it's a nice Beach House enjoy!

I'm a bear for creating a pitch black cave with my equipment stack at the rear of the room. Still, any display without a dimmer gets the black tape treatment ..LOL..

I was happy to see that my USB hub worked with the ZIDOO in largely the same way as with my SHIELD. The built in scraper was much more finicky with my library and I was about to format everything from scratch, when my son helped me master a free piece of software called BULK RENAME UTILITY. Fortunately, it was able to overcome the idiotsynchrasis of my complex naming scheme......I will still keep my SHIELD for streaming.

Conventional Wi-Fi or mesh system? IIRC, you are Apple centric, if true then check out some Wi-Fi measuring apps here. Look for ones that show data rates, signal levels, and channels used.

What part of Florida as in panhandle, north, central and south?

Just ordered a Panasonic UB820. I'm curious about its tone-mapping abilities and it just dropped to $400, which is a great deal via Amazon. I know this model and the 9000 are highly coveted There's nothing wrong with my Sony X800m2, I'm just curious about the UB820 and it finally dropped to a price I was comfortable with. It should arrive a day after tomorrow.

I'm also seeing The Black Phone at an early AMC screening tomorrow night. It's one of my most anticipated films of the year.

Central on Atlantic coast.

For the near term one of my kids will be working and going to school there.

It was posted this feature would be added to the new Zappiti (RTD1619DR based) players as well. Time will tell what Zidoo does.

Some projector owners seem to like the Panasonic's for their TM features. Kris Deering still likes his Oppo and JVC combo because he likes the JVC TM.

I sometimes read some comments about various places in America from you guys and it feels so alien to me living on the North East coast of England in a former industrial town famous for its ship building and mining efficiency. (In my city, mostly ship building).

It sounds so far flung, interesting and utterly different.

Well, it’s been a while since we heard from Vilya. I was expecting something by now, even though I thought it would be a short while. Sent him a message last week and nothing. Before (when he was previously recovering) , he was weak but was able to type a line to respond.

Can’t help but be concerned as it’s been around a month I think.

I originally used the mapping in the Panasonic, but switched over to the JVC once I started digging into those settings.

I spent most of my years in semi-flatland's but always liked mountain areas. Have toured most of the mountain areas in the CONUS except the northeast. Like the Appalachian Mountains because of the amount of water and diversity of plant and animal life. Also really like Cascade Range. Bucket list includes Alaska, Alberta, British Colombia and Adirondack Mountains.

My front door is ground level, my screened back porch floor is 22' (6.71M) off the ground.

Not current, trees much taller now.

Really like the central Florida area country side because of the amount of really old water oaks and Spanish moss.

Not sure when that was posted, but it sounds alot like the Z10 engine that ZIDOO touts in their marketing.

I still haven't had a chance to sit down and watch a whole movie... but I have run the gammet of torture test scenes that I use to judge changes that I've made to my rig and the results have been jaw dropping, on every level... even the audio side... which I KNOW makes no sense....
In trying to find out if I was experiencing a placebo effect, I threw on my bluray rip off FURY ROAD. I've never bothered to upgrade to the UHD as I'm not really a huge fan of the movie. The bluray has an ATMOS track... in fact it IMHO, has the greatest audio clip of all time. The first 7 minutes of that film will tell you everything you need to know about your audio setup and whether or not you are truly able to experience what ATMOS is supposed to be (hint... it's NOT gimmicky easily localized sounds coming from your ceiling)...

At any rate, this clip, which I've heard a million times, sounded better through the ZIDOO.... but that paled in comparison to what the Z10 engine did to the video in dynamically tone mapping the SDR presentation to... what ? DOLBY VISION (?)...I don't what the internal process is technically or what some marketing guy says... but I am starting to understand what the panel on YOUTHMAN'S YT channel was harping about when they concluded that the lowely RS420 could hold it's own against $30k + projectors one tone mapping was taken off it's plate!

How do the newer JVCs handle DOLBY VISION content? I'm assuming they're using a similar process to what can be found in something like a LUMAGEN which, at the price must kill even what I'm gushing about with the ZIDOO...

Then in the early 1990's we went on a Caribbean Cruise out of Miami. But I love the Beaches, California has some real nice ones I even Surfboard in the '60's. Also in Vietnam, Chu Lai had a Beach we would go to.

I lived in Orlando for 2 years and St. Pete Beach for about the same when I was in my 20's. Had a blast in both places but missed cold weather. Or at least as cold as it gets in Georgia, which isn't very. At least we somewhat get seasons here. Nine months of summer and 3 months of Spring/Fall/Winter .
