Mahakaal (1994) Blu-ray from Massacre Video, USA

It came out in April. I found out about it only 2 weeks ago. Haven't received my order yet. There are two versions - one with a shirt and one without it.

Did you receive your Blu-ray of Mahaakal ? Also can somebody confirm if the Chidambaram(2005) blu-ray has been officially released. its copy is there on net .

^Make sure you do. The MV guy is supposed to be a slippery dude. From what I've heard from people in the know, he hasn't even as yet supplied the Ramsays with the 2k Master that he was contracted to give them, because he was 'too busy' to send them the hard disk with the master.

Thats actually true. Even smaller outfits like Severin films, take multiple weeks to ship out their orders sometimes . you have to realize that these outfits have a grand total of 5-6 people working in the organization. So during times of rush the editor of the outfit ends up as the packing agent. But these sort of delays happen primarily during festival times ( Black Friday sale is an example)

^ I do realize that these smaller firms can take longer to ship out their orders. That’s why I haven’t contacted them even though my order was placed on 4th of December. Severin Films or other outfits announce or tell you at the time of ordering if the shipping is going to be delayed. They just don’t make a blanket statement.

Anyway, I received the following e-mail from them yesterday. Tracking shows its delivery on 18th.

It may depend a lot on the state of the film elements. Maybe this one required the least bit of working on.
Or some other party like Mondo Macabro was looking to negotiate a multi-film deal with the Ramsays while Louis of MV was just happy to get a single movie license.

Heh, MTV entered India only in the late 90's when private satellite TV made its appearance. Before that, a lot of movie makers in India just assumed that the bulk of local audiences would not have access to the international source works, except on rare occasions like award ceremonies and special programs, so they freely copied whatever they came across that they thought was cool and did a hodgepodge Indianized version of it.

Massacre Video, a smell American company treats Mahakaal, an Indian rip-off of an American movie, better than Shemaroo, a large Indian enterprise, treats Mughal-e-Azam, an Indian classic. What a shame!

Given the source elements, this is probably the best the film has ever looked.

Finally received my copy today after being held up at customs for 5 days. Custom charge : Rupees 1237 so it cost me total Rupees 5039 . Glad that it finally reached me . Now i can do what i ordered it for : add the video songs to my hobby collection
