LOTR trilogy...
For the most part I agree that the casting choices were less than perfect, but it'd have been downright impossible to satisfy every Tolkien fan in that arena. No, my problems with the movies started to creep in after repeated viewings.. My biggest problem is that the Sam and Frodo stuff after FoTR, and even some of the scenes in that one, are exactly the same narratively. i.e. "I can't go on Sam, the ring is too much" "Yes you can Mr. Frodo, *insert inspirational sentence or two*" Repeat ad nauseum Or there's "I want to help Gollum Sam, he's not all bad" "Yes he is Mr. Frodo, I don't trust him" Repeat ad nauseum Frodo was the most mis-cast of all the Hobbits, dare I say all of the Characters. Gandalf, Gollum, Gimli, Aragorn and Bilbo were excellent casting IMO, Boromir as well. The other thing I really hate is that the extended versions don't really add anything necessary, yeah there's a FEW iconic parts from the books but for the most part the stuff they added wasn't from the books, or it was put into different movies then the books it was from. Still love them though, but can take or leave the EEs on BD |

![]() I agree. LOTR is my favorite and while it's not perfect I don't hate anything about it. Otherwise, why would I call it my favorite movie? |

I agree. The first two movies are awesome, but Clive Barker made some weird choices that seem to have only been thrown in there to say "It will never end" and it's really disappointing, because Clive Barker is creative enough and a good enough storyteller to find a much more subtle and believable way to imply such a point. Hell, I'd even prefer somebody just flat out saying it. Right at the end of the movie, show somebody with a beguiled look, holding their head, rocking back and forth, saying "It will never end . . ." It wouldn't be the best choice in the world, but it wouldn't be any worse than that goofy serpent.

![]() ![]() Not that I'm expecting tons of people here to have seen it,* but my favorite movie is The American Astronaut. I love it so much that, after I saw it, I was no longer able to say Terry Gilliam was my favorite director. It was good enough not only to knock my favorite movie out of its number one spot; I loved it enough that, on the merit of one film, I was able to say that I liked the director (Cory McAbee) more than Terry Gilliam and the 9 (technically 10) movies he's made. In spite of all of that, though, there's two scenes that gets on my nerves. Whenever Professor Hess (Rocco Sisto) kills a room full of people, with his disintegration ray, the aftermath is a little overdramatic. We're staring at the piles of dust for a little too long. It's a little better the second time, on Jupiter, but it still could have been done a little less heavy-handedly. And it isn't like the scenes, on their own, are horrible. They just don't fit 100% with the rest of the movie. Other than that Samuel Curtis's (McAbee) voice can be a little strange, sometimes . . . but that doesn't bug me. I just think it's funny. Anyway, scenes like this more than make up for the off moments. *No that's not a "look how cool I am because my favorite movie is so esoteric" statement. It's just me stating the fact that it's not the most widely known movie in the world, so I'm not naïve enough to expect everybody to know what I'm talking about and say "Oh yeah, I hate that, too!" |

Andyman NO movie is perfect and if you don't think your favorite movie has flaws you're seriously kidding yourself. LOTR is far and away my favorite but I can go on and on about the flaws and things I don't like it about it. It's called objectivity.

Blade Runner
Bad audio work... 1) When Sebastian says "Don't worry, I won't hurt you" to Pris. Chopped and garbled, like it was temporarily sped up. 2) Directors cut - when Roy says "I want more life... Father". When we all know it used to be much, much cooler. A line immortalized by Rob Zombie in "More human than human". |

So what? What's your point? I expressed an opinion... you think I don't know that plenty of people disagree with it? Some of us don't lose any sleep over the fact that people disagree with our opinions.
