I think this is a real embarrassment for the forum. If you can't be accommodated it only reflects badly on them in my opinion.

You have always added incredible value but I guess the purpose of the forum is ultimately to maximising commercial value and inane chatter about slipcases serves that purpose more than challenging conversation.

Like everyone on here, I’ve really appreciated the hard work and insight you’ve added over the years and gutted (though understanding) of wishing to step away, particularly getting caught on the wrong side of a ban hammer. Outside of that, I’ve found myself less interested in discussing things on here and more using it to just keep track of upcoming pre-orders and news, so I certainly see the desire to step away from posting. As for the forum alternative, criterionforum.org is a place I've lurked at recently and has a lot of great deep discussions (about actual films, not dinged up cardboard corners).

Not totally unexpected given your treatment of late, but deeply disappointing none the less. Why TPTB feel the need to keep forcing out people who greatly contribute with informed knowledge is beyond me, but each and every time it happens this place becomes lesser for it.

There was no behaviour to adjust. There has been an issue in Doctor Who threads where people have been banned a number of times because certain people were reporting them simply because they didn’t have the same rose tinted view as they did of the current era of the show. There are at least a couple of other people who are currently banned. One of the threads was locked. Somebody tried to start a new thread a few days ago which quickly became very divisive and has now been removed. So I don;t think Aclea needed to modify his behaviour in any way.

Maybe this is finally the time for the mods to speak about this site's banning policy? I think everyone on this forum would really appreciate if there was at least a bit of communication why certain ban's happen(ed).
99% of the made bans are probably right but no communication at all when such things happen always leave a kind of bad impression, at least to me.

Except I hadn't been doing that this year beyond one mild post that was not deleted, but still got handed down bans every time there was an unrelated purge on that board (which you got caught up in yourself). I'd been purposely ignoring it and not rising to pretty obvious bait. Didn't make a damn bit of difference.

I felt that I was getting banned merely for responding.

Right now, we have a Doctor Who thread, but it's got an inflammatory thread title and poll. The actual Doctor Who thread is still locked.

My frustration is that the bans are anonymous, so we have no idea how biased the banner is.

With me it's got to the stage where I don't even have to post there because whenever there's trouble on that board my name's on the "Round up the usual suspects" list. This year's bans all came out of the blue and seemed purely arbitrary.
