Was there any word on if the steelbook blu-ray for Fatal Fury the Movie was going to be any different from the standard release? I didn't see them saying anything about it being a new master, but they typically seem to do steelbook releases for whenever they come across better masters of stuff they've previously released so I wasn't certain.

I'm also quite curious to see how the GKIDS release of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water will compare to the previous Sentai release, but it seems that I'll have to wait a few months to find out.

Gkids will use the "new 4K master" which is essentially a scam.
It's basically the old transfer with a ton of DNR applied to it, don't expect anything out of it.

So essentially it's best to track down a copy of the Sentai's Nadia release or possibly UK/AU, if the discs are the same? All of them seem to be OOP, aside from on place in Europe having a copy of the Sentai for 100 EUR + shipping (ouch).

Though going through posts in this forum, it has the gamma bug *sigh*

Fatal Fury the Movie is the same disc as before, with some fancy new Steelbook packaging.

About the only thing that could be considered beneficial for the Nadia set is if they gave it an updated translation, but even then I'm not sure it's worth the awful video quality.

I'm very glad I picked up the Sentai Blu-ray before they lost the license to it. Don't have to worry about having to drop money on an inferior release.

The screenshots and video show that the new Gkids version is an improvement over the old one. There is no good reason to avoid it. It has been out of print and expensive, and now you can buy a slightly better version that also includes a slipcover. Don't let these people deter you from buying it.

People have already shown comparisons between the Sentai release and the recent screenshots from the supposed new remaster. There is DNR applied to the image that outright removes some of the original detail.

Unless the final/actual product doesn't have DNR applied like the screenshots show, I think people have good reason to be wary.

It is your (poor and misguided) opinion that if *any* DNR is applied that it completely makes it unwatchable. That is a ridiculous opinion that completely ignores the actual look of what is being released. You "people" crap all over it despite it looking good. You're like the people who insist that any 4k disc that is an upscale is automatically bad, or any "fake 3d" is bad, despite many of the best 4k discs being upscales, and most of the best 3d movies being "fake".
You all should be ashamed. You're posting on a forum specifically for collectors, and you have the worst taste and completely wrong opinions. A random reddit forum has better posters than you guys.

Actually, no. I own and enjoy quite a number of 4K upscaled movies even some with slight DNR applied. But the difference is how much of it was used and to what degree.

Look at this comparison here. You can clearly see that the detail on Nadia's hair has been smeared out on the supposed the 4K "restoration":

The Madman encoded AU/UK BD is way better for that in almost every regard (even the subtitle font) despite being encoded from the same non filtered source.
So I purchased the Japanese bluray box set. It turns out that 12 episodes are split across a 2-3 discs with the remaining discs containing the bonus episodes and extras. Although not disclosed in many of the listings, it does include the English dub along with subtitles for the Japanese track.

Are you sure the Nadia JP BD box set has an English dub? CDJapan doesn't mention any English dub at all.

Said discussion was about One Punch Man. Nadia's JP BD does indeed have zero English support whatsoever.
