Default Qore Episode 13

Qore Episode 13 – Featuring inFAMOUS, Fight Night Round 4 and The Frag Dolls
Posted by Kevin Furuichi // Executive Producer, PlayStation Network

Quote:
As we mentioned in an e-mail to subscribers, we experienced a delay in releasing the final version of Episode 13 and apologize for the inconvenience.

This month marks a milestone for Qore—its first birthday! When the PlayStation Network launched the show a year ago, we were very excited about the opportunity to give gamers a unique glimpse into the world of PlayStation.

We want to thank everyone for their support during this fast and furious year for PlayStation Network’s first original production.

And now, the episode at hand:

Almost inFAMOUS
In Episode 11, we saw how the unique music of inFAMOUS was created. This time, we head to Seattle to visit Sucker Punch, developers of the Sly Cooper franchise, to witness the fascinating way they’ve created “karma” in their electrifying PS3 debut. We also utilize their development rig to capture the amazing particle effects of the game in super slo-mo.

Lords of the Ring
Muhammed Ali is the self-proclaimed ‘Greatest of All Time.’ Mike Tyson was unstoppable in his prime. EA’s Fight Night 4 provides the setting for the ultimate fantasy boxing match as Veronica visits the passionate pugilists at EA Canada to go a few rounds and stir up the debate.

Playing With Dolls
What does it take to join one of the most well-known clans in gaming? How do these ladies handle themselves in a predominantly male-dominated activity? Veronica Belmont finds out as she competes for an opening on the Frag Dolls’ roster.

Everyone who downloads Qore this month will receive an exclusive inFAMOUS PS3 “Bad Karma” theme as well as Qore T-shirts for Home that you can wear with pride! Enable the T-shirts in Qore and access them through your Home wardrobe. New Qore subscribers will also receive High Velocity Bowling.

Finally, to commemorate the release of a slew of new PSone classics on the PlayStation Store, we’re offering all Qore purchasers the original Spyro the Dragon. Fans of the classics will be happy to know that the number of PSone titles available on the PlayStation Store will nearly double by the year’s end.

Look for Qore Episode 13 available Thursday
.

No answer to the million dollar question though - what's the incentive for current Qore annual subscribers to reup for another year? And what's the cost?

Qore sent out a survey to members a few months back - I wonder if they are going to offer anything for the coming year.....

There was a thread of all the BETAS, games, and early demos Qore has given out just this year alone. If Mike can find the list he can post it.

So are there reasons to subscribe? Yes, ALOT!!!

OMG, these girls are still getting attention? I believe they are so old that the revamped ScreenSavers (before they became AOTS) did a segment on them YEARS ago.

And this is definitly not the episode I saw quite awhile ago. So did the crew/ editing staff just film that never to be used? Did they pay their staff for segments never to be used? That's money down the drain. And if the editors/staff didn't get paid I know some people will be PISSED!!!

No that doesn't explain what they are going to do with fully shot and editied segments and if that is every going to be shown or if the staff or editors got paid for that work? If they did not and it doesn't get shown to paid subscribers most studios would deem that a "loss" in business terms.

That article you reposted did not inform me about the question I posed.

I'd be a bit surprised if Sony would tell subscribers about contract details dealing with a full episode that had to be scrapped. Considering the way the video production guilds work, I wouldn't worry too much. If it's of a personal concern to you, you probably have better avenues of inquiry available. I think it's safe to assume the staff was paid for the scrapped episode unless we hear otherwise. I'd feel sorry for whoever accidentally uploaded that episode before E3 though...

I remember Spyro as a sort of marker for a new wave of PlayStation games developed with assistance from the new performance analysis tool. The game had a clean, high-res look to it that I didn't expect from a PlayStation game with open environments. It's the game with which I trained myself on dual analog sticks, controlling Spyro and the camera simultaneously seemed so difficult to begin with.

Essentially that was a email directly sent and to me it states they scraped the segment, and that they planed on redoing that segment in a later episode. If they got paid or not, I dunno, I would assume they would handle that like content that was shot but never used.

I would assume either a clause in the contract or it would be expected.

As with most creative processes you create alot of content not all of it gets put into the file project, say movies where scenes were shot but never actually added to the movie.. sure its a loss but its the nature of the business right?

I have to agree there, its not really any of our buisness, we can though hope that all employed by the qore team ran by Future are taken care of.

Totally missing the point. My point is what are they looking to do to incent annual subscribers to reup for another annual subscription.

There has definitely been some stuff that was annual subscriber-only, but most of the things Qore has offered are available as part of the monthly download.

There appears to be nothing in this episode that couldn't be obtained by just buying the one-off issue.

Considering Qore sent a survey to annual subscribers (maybe all subscribers) that asked what they liked and disliked - along with what price point would prompt you to reup an annual subscription for Qore again - I'm assuming that they are at least seriously considering some sort of incentive. Getting all that money up front is always a good thing. For me another big issue is that I'm a Playstation Magazine subscriber - so I get the codes for most Qore episodes along with my magazine (and I pay much less for the magazine). That means that basically the only thing I'm really paying for is those extra downloads (and when it's games you already have, it's just a waste).

Personally I probably will drop the cash on an annual subscription again, but the biggest driver for me is to do it just in case the annual subscribers end up getting early beta access to the SOE MMOs like DCUO or The Agency.

I enjoyed getting qore and the way I did my math is you paid less for the subscription over buying each episode so there is sorta that momentary incentive if the few subscriber goodies were not enough.

Might be wrong, but I tend to wait till I see the episode before judging its contents they usually never list the full contents of qore on those blog posts.

I don't think you'll be able to gameshare the Home shirt as Home items are dealt with separately apart from the PSN and dont appear on your download list.

I heard that annual subscribers will get a discount on their next subscription from them. That's just what I've heard.

I was talking about Spyro actually, my subscription has given me many ps one games to share with my uncle and some psn games, in which his entire family has enjoyed that I would never have purchased.. if you get my drift.

I'd agree if that hadn't given quite a few Qore episode away in Playstation Magazine - that changed it substantially for me.

I just looked. Looked like there was no marked down price. Was still $30.00

Edit: Made a mistake here. It's only $25
