I would, at least, bet that the audio codec for JW: D will be Dolby Atmos. We'll wait and see.....

I can taje eithe DTS X or Atmos. While the first JP in 4K is lacking the audio is clearly the star. So enveloping at 11.2. The njght scenes look so good. Started Lost World.
Massive visual improvement. Gonma be fun to watch this franchise in preparation.

Where do you see those specs are taken from the studio?

From DigitalBits:
Please keep in mind that TBA titles and dates are ESTIMATES based on best-available information from sources and are NOT to be considered official until the studios in question make their respective announcements.

I watched Fallen Kingdom in theatres and was so put off by it, I bought the disc in 2018 and never watched it until last week. And you know what, it's a movie with a lot to say. I recommend watching it again, and focus on the theme of man's relationship with dinosaurs. Weird widescreen choice aside, it's really cool. Even the whole Maisie thing. It all comes down to, "Do cloned/created creatures deserve to be protected?"
You've bought a movie three years ago, and you just now watching it? I hope it wasn't defected and if so, you would've been stuck with it. It's a lot cheaper now when you first bought it.

Thank got they dropped the "Collector's Edition" banner, otherwise nearly half the artwork would have been covered up by them.

Such an ugly cover. If it was just the Amber logo, I feel like it would convince people to buy the standalone UHDs or buy this to complete their collection. None of the packaging for this movie excite me, the collection looks decent but I’m not going to buy all those movies again.

Maybe somewhere down the line Universal re-releases this one with a logo to match the others.

If the supposed extras list posted earlier is real, the extended cut is legitimately the biggest draw for the release, and this has less extras than any prior movie in the series. My suspicion is there will be a collector’s edition later, and though it’ll likely have that banner at the top, that would hopefully use the amber logo.

I've bought movies and not watched them for up to five years. Closer to a decade in extreme cases. I was especially bad with that in the DVD era.

if that was the case then general audiences probably wouldn't know what film it was!

I don't know about that, in my area there is a total mix of 2.35 and 1.85 screens even at the same theater and some have active masks or curtains going either way.

I loved the opening third or so, loved the ending bits, really like a decent bit of the last third. It was great to see the original cast and some of their intros and stuff brought a bit of tears to my eyes with the nostalgia. And it was cool to
[Show spoiler] see them with the new cast all working together later on
. The middle was a little weird, it stretched a bit long, and it was a bit more like James Bond or Mission Impossible film, it was good for what it is, if a trace long, but you did feel a bit like, in a JP film, you might rather more of the time have been spent in the cool forest reserve and had them wander around the temperate rainforest swamps more and see more cool things and have more scenes of wonder there instead, they could have shown more dino magic and wonder in there, I mean the stuff was well done for what it is was, but maybe felt a bit long of a sequence on Malta and all, where it was kinda more of a Bond film almost and one stretch had no dinos and such at all for a bit and was off in it's own place kinda disconnected. But I did love the whole start and the all the last ending stuff and really liked much of the whole latter part. There was a lot of wonderful scenery, some really beautiful locations and great cinematography. And really did love the first part and last part.

Fun fact though, you probably wouldn't have much to fear from an actual Velociraptor. *Pushes up nerd glasses*

Quoting Wikipedia:

The Velociraptor of Jurassic Park is actually based on Deinonychus, another species from the dromaeosauridae family. The name Velociraptor is used because A) there was a short-lived debate in the '80s about whether Deinonychus should also be renamed Velociraptor and B) because both Michael Crichton and Steven Spielberg decided it was the cooler, catchier name.

Where it all gets even messier is that Dominion introduces two new species of raptor: Atrociraptor and Pyroraptor. In real life, both of these were about the same size as Velociraptor, but are similarly oversized for the film.
I think Velociratpor now just stands for a number of different species. Yeah I always thought of the Velociraptors as Deinonychus.

I think you way underestimate the fear factor though. Even a racoon can do some nasty damage to a human. An emu can mess someone up extremely badly and this thing has worse claws plus teeth. A pit bull can devastate someone. A wolf can mangle someone.

I just accept that stuff as this being the Jurassic Park universe's version of prehistory, which differs from the real one.
I never even understood how that was an issue to begin with. They are not traveling back in time to go look at the natural world. They simply brought back a bunch of creatures from the past, who said they could only bring ones back that lived at the exact same time????

But he convinced universal to put it online, which of course they did. That was the opening to the movie though, and I for one would like it back in and have most if not all of that news report garbage removed.
There’ll be other scenes too, but the prologue sounds like a really touch choice they had to make and I hear a bit of regret every time he talks about it.

Personally I think there’s stuff they could have changed/removed in the movie to force its inclusion that would have worked out better - but hey ho. Difficult to get into without spoilers but I definitely was overly harsh on my first viewing. Second was fine - although there’s stuff in it I still loathe.
That is a shame as the first act was great and it was the second Bond part that felt long, could've easily chopped some of that for more of the first part (and in the forest later on).

Velociraptor mongoliensis is the type species. There's also what's believed to be a second species, part of the same genus; Velociraptor osmolskae.

The "Velociraptors" of Jurassic Park are in fact Deinonychus, yes. Again, Crichton and Spielberg went with what they felt was the cooler name, and it led to decades of confusion.

You're naming animals most of which are larger than Velociraptor, though. Again, not denying it could injure a person, but killing is something else. A small child or someone seriously ill and frail, though? Probably.

I think you misunderstood. We were talking about the prologue to Jurassic World: Dominion, which takes place at the end of the Cretaceous, 65 million years ago.
