It is definitely an obsession I've seen color some people's abilities to objectively analyze films or TV shows.

Also, a lot of these people with a “perfection” fixation are entirely selective about what technical issues are important. For instance, hardly anyone cares about how silent film frame rates are translated when this is a far more fundamental issue - guys like Kevin Brownlow spent decades rectifying the “jerky” perception of silent films and now everyone has been conditioned to accept jerkiness again by people who insist everything has to be “24 progressive” or it’s total scum bag junk.

I'm starting Hard Target right now. The classic Universal logo reminds me of Child's Play 2, I'll re-watch that movie later.
Edit - John Woo directed this? Huh, that's kinda cool. Last edited by MATBAN96; 07-04-2022 at 09:28 AM. |

Again it just seems like people become obsessed with arguing about this stuff on forums and that becomes more important to them then actually enjoying films. I get the sense some people here they have shelves full of disks they can't enjoy because they've picked out some minor weakness in them, "2 seconds of minor macro blocking? killed the entire film for me" Last edited by moreorless; 07-04-2022 at 09:38 PM. |

Predators just becomes a bit too dorky for me "what if a predator fought a samurai?". |

I seem to be in a minority when it comes to my opinion of the film 'Everything Everywhere all at once'. It was relentless. Superfast paced with just so much in your face craziness, short edits, screen movement that I zoned out for pretty much the middle hour of the film. The good bits were really good, they were just drowned in so many stop start images that took me out of the film. There's no jeopardy. There's no drama. Anything can happen and anything does happen. I couldn't wait for it to end.
