I just got the "ready for pre-order" email from Blu-ray.com. Actually, it was for the Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan single film release, but I figured if that was being released by Paramount, then perhaps the entire six-film set was also available.

It bugs me that Paramount - as many members theorized - released the 4-film box set as a "test the waters" set to determine if a larger box set would follow. It kinda makes sense that they would because the alternative (a TOS/TNG box set with the remaining six movies), just did not appeal to me, even though they're part of, as Khan would say, "one big happy franchise."

I initially ordered the 4K disk of Wrath of Khan, but I changed my mind when I saw that the six-movie collection was available (again, thank you, Blu-ray.com) and went ahead and ordered the six-film set instead. (Mainly for V, VI, and The Director's Cut of TMP.

On the SLV cut, will it be just an upconvert to 4K from its original TV source or was it re-mastered in 4K and did it have fixes applied to it as well, such as the scene where Kirk is EVA off of the Enterprise and you can see the scaffolding all in the background. If not then that is ok, either way will be nice to have it on home disc media and revisit

If the SLV is on the same disc as the theatrical cut, it seems odd that Paramount would press an entirely different 4K disc for the 15 disc set that only contains the theatrical cut.

It’s not like they are pressing or authoring a whole new disc…they already have said disc, it’s the one released last year in the initial 1-4 set…

The theatrical version is on a UHD disc with the SLV in The Complete Adventure set. This exclusive disc of these two versions appears to not be in the 15-disc 6-film set. That appears to be the same TMP disc that appeared in the previous 4-film set.

I hate that deluxe box. Cardboard sliders, which should be illegal. Dumb stickers. No model ships or display pieces. I'd buy it if it came in a standard case. Now, I'm not so sure.

From the picture in the Amazon listing, it looks like the deluxe Complete Adventure has the discs in cardboard sleeves.

The Complete Adventure Set is the same thing as the 15-disc set. And you're right...it's all very confusing right now! It would really suck if Paramount makes us pay 100.00 for the STTMP deluxe 4K set AND 125.00 the 15-disc set in order for us to get everything.

No, the 15-disc set does not have the "Special Longer Version" of The Motion Picture included. That is the one on-disc feature that is exclusive to the Complete Adventure set.

TMP Director's Edition is in the standalone 4K set, the standalone BR set, the Complete Adventure set, and the 1-6 film set.

TMP Theatrical Edition is in the Complete Adventure set and the 1-6 film set only.

TMP Special Longer Version is in the Complete Adventure set only.

Regarding content, The Limited-Edition Collector’s Set bonus disc only contains The Theatrical Cut and the widescreen presentation of the Special Longer Version. All the other bonus content is included on the stand-alone release.

The three versions of the feature films are on the two 4K discs, and the TMP-DE bonus material is Disc 3 (Blu-ray only).

In all seriousness, the ONLY thing missing from the 15 disc set that the deluxe TMP TDE box set has is the “Special Longer Version” of the movie….if that specific cut is a must, then you’re gonna HAVE to buy both

Let's see I got a great deal on the 4 film set, I will wait for a price drop on the huge Star Trek The Motion Picture Box to get SLV

I will wait for a really really really low price drop on V or just not even get it [itunes will upgrade my digital to 4K when the package is released]

If you want SLV you all will NEED to get that big box just to get SLV and it's NOT on the 6 film box!

Only think you will be missing is the Special Longer Cut which is exclusive to the Complete Adventure Deluxe Set.

Exactly, which is why I do not think a Blu-ray of any version of the film is included with the individual standalone release….there aren’t any BDs even being included with the big deluxe box set (other than the dedicated special features disc)
