Vudu has added King Kong Lives, copyrighted under Studio Canal under exclusive license to Shout Factory.

So I guess we can expect that in the future.

Sweet. I actually found myself enjoying that film more than the 76 remake (which was pure hell).

Agreed. I hate the '76 Kong but King Kong Lives is awesome. It almost seems like what we would have gotten had Ed Wood lived long enough to make a Kong film in the 80's....

[Show spoiler]This
sums it up pretty well....

I have the WAC DVD, and it's definitely worth picking up. For my money, the Shuttered Room is the better of the two films. It's not a faithful adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's short story, but it's still a nicely atmospheric Thriller in its own right, and Oliver Reed gives a good performance in it as well. And you can never go wrong with Roddy McDowell.

I hope SF is aware of the interest in Jaws sequels and continues to push to get the rights from Universal.

King Kong Lives seems to have its fan base, and I've never actually seen it. I personally love the '76 version and if this is better, then I'm all in.

The new scan from the OCN is the main draw for Cat People. That Universal disc was always just a coaster. I would've been happy if it was just a barebones disc with a new scan.

I'm looking forward to IMPRINT's upcoming BD of Harem, also starring Nastassja Kinski, from 1985. Imprint's really killing it with their selection of titles. I always look forward to their announcements.

Oh wow, that's incredible news, thanks for finding that out! Hopefully it's a collector's edition with a slip so it mesh with their 76 release. Either way, this is great great news.
I'd say the only big Kong release missing after this will be the Japanese cut of King kong escape but my hopes for that one are extremely low at this point.

As for A Simple Plan, I just hope someone announces it soon. This one is long overdue.

Do you think they’ll do 4K restorations of Bug (1975), Orca (1977), and Prophecy (1979)?

I hope they restore footage for Orca into the main film. The original festival cut “The Hephaestus’ Plague” is needed for its 4K release. I would love an R-Rated Cut of Prophecy on a 4K Disc.

I haven’t seen it in forever, but I do know if you liked 76, you should like Lives.

Yes, Im actually going to double dip on this as i have the current blu, and I rarely double dip in the same format. But I heard the quality is so much better then what was previously put out on blu. (I did get the VS DDF for the slip even though I have the region free, but thats about it for double dipping). Not interested in the 4k but the new scan for the blu is worth it,,,,I think?...

Just asked when the Summer Of Fear sale will be.

Quote:
Thanks so much for your interest! Unfortunately, we have no info to announce regarding a Summer of Fear sale this year.

But please follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter on our website! We've got some great sales in store for the remainder of the year that we're excited to share with you.
Does that mean they dont wanna tell me? Or no sale?

Pretty sure it means there is none based on the allusion to other sales coming this year. You didn't ask for details other than the time so I believe they would have announced that they would release details on the date later as it's not been a surprise sale in the past. Kind of a bummer, but with plenty of the collector's editions going OOP combined with the fact that their 4k titles are not going down in price any time soon we may just have to wait until next year. Maybe they could lower the price of Friday the 13th set re-release The Burning and Sleepaway Camp in 4k.. kind of a Comic Con announcement hope I'll admit.

Anybody else really hoping they get into the TV series licensing business as I feel it's becoming too big of a gamble for big studios. Missed out on remainder of AHS releases and I know I've seen Freddy's Nightmares on wishlists in the past.

Another Scream Factory release I hope to get eventually (and an example for me of double-dipping) is Dead of Winter, which Roddy McDowell starred in (already have the 88 Films UK release).

Ok that's how I read it. Thanks for the confirmation. It would have been easy to say, details on the sale should be coming soon or something along those lines. Being as they didnt say that and pointed to other sales in the rest of the year, it must be a no go.

They are but not serious enough. I would love to see Forever Knight, Freddys Nightmares, Mr. Meaty and others.

They've been in the TV licensing business, most of their early releases (as Shout Factory) were TV shows. Even now they're releasing Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman.
Freddy's Nightmares is off-limits to them, and AHS is likely not available or out of their price range. It would be cool to see a full TV series released under the Scream Factory label but choices are slim. They did release the first season of Slasher though.
