I figured this would interest many Bond fans...

This weekend, June 24th-26th, experience an unforgettable line-up of tough guy cinema as Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater present ACTION-ADVENTURE WEEKEND!

In addition to Friday's exciting triple bill featuring Charles Bronson in THE MECHANIC (1972), MR. MAJESTYK (1974) & DEATH WISH 3 (1985), prepare yourselves for Saturday's "Bond-A-Rama" where three of Sean Connery's best outings as 007, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963), GOLDFINGER (1964) & THUNDERBALL (1966), will screen from glorious IB Technicolor 35mm prints!

Lastly, stick around Sunday for one of the best men on a mission spectacles in THE DIRTY DOZEN (1967)!

This is a rare treat that fans won't want to miss out on. TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE!

Just working through my 50th set and watching World is Not Enough.

What on earth happened to the soundtrack on the disc?

I switched to the German Dts during the titles and my god it's sounds so much better, the English audio sounds all front and lacking in oomph. Anyone else notice this?

It's sounded rubbish since the DVD which was especially bad.

These Bonds need a massive overhaul of both picture and sound. Shamefully I doubt they will receive it.

Half of this year is gone. It's the 60th Anniversary of James Bond this year and No News about 4K UHD releases ?? They released a Daniel Craig set. How about a Connery/Lazenby, Moore, and Brosnan set in 4K UHD ! (No dalton for me)

So the 24-film set that was $80 at Walmart a few months ago is now $70 at Target. They’re definitely burning off old stock at this point.

The audio sound is fine on the UE DVD so maybe you two were hearing it through some lesser means?

The UE have had their picture and sound upgraded on DVD DTS some time ago.

Please reread what I said. Play the blu ray and during an action scene switch to the German audio and suddenly it comes alive like a proper dynamic engaging soundtrack.

They created a brand new master for The Spy Who Loved Me on BD, while I believe all the other Moore films are the old HD masters used on the DVDs. I would watch TSWLM.

I believe all the Connery films have the same old DVD-era HD masters on the BDs.

Just saw that Regal Cinemas added a showtimes page for Dr. No. Movie is screening on Sunday, August 21. Upset that out of all the entire summer, that day is the only time I’ll be out of town to see this (And this is one of my most anticipated films to see this year in theaters besides The Thing).

Don’t know if it’s Fathom Events or if MGM/United Artists is hosting this.

Praying for more available days to see this!!! Furthermore, I’d be willing to skip Dr. No to see another classic Bond film in theaters (My area rarely shows classic films so this is exciting news for me).

EDIT: Fathom Events is doing this since it says Fathom Admission Tickets. I’m hoping it’s going to look and sound good unlike the tragedy they did with The Thing and the aspect ratio issue. I believe it really depends on what theaters you go to, because my experience with the film was pretty good looking and was in the right aspect ratio, even though it was on the second day.

Monty Norman, the composer behind the iconic James Bond theme, has died at the age of 94.

A statement posted on his official website said, “It is with sadness we share the news that Monty Norman died on 11th July 2022 after a short illness.”

Norman most famously composed the score for “Dr. No,” the 1962 James Bond film starring Sean Connery. His theme for James Bond, as arranged by fellow Englishman John Barry, would go on to become the theme for the entire franchise.

I'd like to catch a classic Bond film or two in theaters. No Time To Die marked the first time I set foot in a theater since COVID hit; Since then I've only returned twice and I really miss the experience. A buddy of mine from the UK has been enjoying several classic Bond films in theaters across the pond. I'm guessing these special screenings are because of the 60th Anniversary of Dr. No?

I guess Amazon has no interest in revisiting the franchise for another set of physical media releases. The entire series could use fresh scans and a nice new collection of bonus features, needless to say.

I'm not saying this as a statement of fact, but I would say the Bond films marathon season in UK & Ireland cinemas has happened because it's the 60th anniversary of Dr. No this year.

This week it's the turn of Octop*ssy. As they're only showing the official Bond films, I'll (hopefully) be re-watching Never Say Never Again next weekend.

Sometimes having a great arranger makes all the difference and sometimes they are given co-writer credit but not always, ask George Martin who helped arrange many of the early Lennon/McCartney compositions.

John Barry got his reward though by getting to score many more Bond films and became the musical face of the Bond Franchise.

It all works out in the end...he shouldn't have sued and he waited waaaay too long to do it.

It's kind of like when Paul McCartney tried to change the writing credits on his live albums to McCartney/Lennon JUST to make sure people knew who wrote what, like anyone cared and all the hardcore Beatles fan already knew. This is the type of thing which makes Paul unlikeable.

I love the theme by Monty Norman and love John Barry's music.
