Being someone who usually says bring on the grain I did struggle a bit with this the other night when I watched it after a few years. I just found the grain a bit harsh, dunno if it’s because last time I watched it it was on a LED and this time was on an OLED??

More. More. Bring 'em on. Happy to give all my Sony's to the old man since he don't care about DV, so I can replace them with fresh DV and 100GB disc encodes.

Even ones I think are top tier as is, like The Patriot. Black Hawk Down. Passengers I'd love to get in Dolby Vision.

Finally! Sold off the first 4K some time ago as it definitely had room for improvement. Looking forward to another glorious Sony / Dolby Vision presentation.

Gotta say I'm very happy with the UHD from SC and don't know how a new UHD from Sony could improve on that.

To each their own, of course. But the SC disc lacks the Theatrical Cut, so that immediately makes it 125.673% less bueno than the Sony disc, IMO.

Didn’t think about different cuts at all but yeah, that would definitely be a reason to get it.

Still not really in my book. Since the Sony is also fine and has both cuts.

But to each their own indeed, I just don't feel like throwing money for virtually no difference at Sony in particular. (and some might very well think the same with my proper titles, fair enough) I also very much prefer the long version here and the SC will therefore most likely be my go-to version.

re. the holy OG audio (unless we're talking about prominent alterations mind you) it really basically always goes like this: "Can anyone name a prominent difference?" complete silence (and actually not that rarely only later followed by someone randomly pointing out that the OG audio actually still isn't even the OG audio

or is borked as with Ghostbusters)

I think a re-release of Fifth Element would be the more interesting discussion, since Sony's version always had that baked in sharpening.
Do they even bother with another attempt if it's going to be that same master, especially when the SC edition is so much better.

am I wrong or the "longer" Leon cut is the original international theatrical cut? isn't it to be considered the original cut as the director intended?

edit: ok I am wrong the director's cut is NOT the original theatrical cut, my bad!

I thought the shorter cut was only released in the U.S. -- but it appears that is also how it was released initially internationally?? IMDB reads that the Extended version was released in French theaters only two years later, though, in 1996. But *then* it didn't show up for U.S. home media audiences until the early 2000s -- 2004? But yes, ever since, Besson I believe considered this his preferred cut.
