Looks good to me (which is surprising considering it's from Q-tec). Also yeah, would love to see ADV release it on BD.

I'm not familiar with that series at all but I love that art. There's something so captivating about late 80's and early 90s character designs to me. I'll definitely have to look into it further.

I'd love to abandon my old DVD set if we get it and it looks this good.

The story goes that (I think) Matt Greenfield said the show was good because the main character was nude more than once.

Dragon Ball Z Kai was not an upscale, it was a legit scan of the 16mm materials, but they didn't properly calibrate their scanner for 16mm so it looks blurry and has vertical smearing cuz they scanned it too fast

yeah it's the Q-TEC FORS system which suprisingly didn't do much damage to this BD

Bold coloring and better designs. Everything today looks washed out etc in the pursuit of realism...an irony as art is escapism.

really late response but it's taken from a BDremux on a private tracker, so this is basically how it's supposed to look.

Also, the switch from hand-drawn/painted cel-animation to digital made a huge differance. (Not always necessarily for the better)

There's an artist who draws modern anime characters in a 80s/early 90s style, and it looks great.

They also do other stuff, like video-game characters.

Would love to get Devil Hunter Yohko on bluray. Hopefully with the ADV dub, which turned Yohko into a valley girl.

Has anyone purchased the Vinland Saga LE?
I'm interested whether they reauthored the discs with the Home Video master for the show, and not the Amazon broadcast one with dimming that was used for the initial release.

It's still listed as a preorder item. I doubt any copies have been sent out as of yet.

Has anyone compared side-to-side the previous Discotek release of Panda! Go, Panda! with the recent one by GKIDS? I haven't found footage of the Discotek disc so far, and I would like to see if there are any stark differences between the remasters utilized for the two discs. If there's not a big difference, are there other aspects to be found where the presentations differ, besides the English dub now being lossless on the new disc?

Sooo, how did the UK release of Maquia turn out? I searched the thread, but the best hint I could find was that AL were doin' their own discs.

Better get the Rightstuf BD if you can. UK/FR BD looks quite rough especially in darker scenes.

-------------------------------

btw, does anyone know how the FR and US BDs of Mutafukaz (a.k.a. MFKZ in US) compare to each other?
