All of those extra bits that comprise the ‘reinserted’ scenes in the SLV have been included as bonus features in all of the last several DVD and Blu releases of TMP.

I'm hoping it's region free though as I do want to watch the bonus features as I'm sure they're on the blus.

For the regular Blu-ray and 4K it’s 1 cut.

For the Complete Adventure it is 3 cuts.

For the 6 movie set it is 2 cuts.

You can submit your own edits.

The main page on this posting of The Complete Collection in the U.S. is getting really annoying - 1 Movie, 3 Cuts - is NOT accurate.

It's 1 Movie, 2 Cuts for the United States release as the Director's Version of the movie is NOT included, even though startrek.com can't even get it right.

I feel like I'm trying to get into contact with Walmart or Target or some retailer who doesn't give a rats ass about their problems.
The complete adv has 3 cuts! Someone on Amazon was spewing this nonsense as well, was it you?

UK release will be 100% absolutely region free, willing to bet they will actually be the exact same discs.

Yes, but they'll be in 4k in the SLV. Will those separate deleted scenes be in 4k, or just 1080p/SD as extras? That's another benefit of the SLV - getting to see those scenes in 4k for the first time ever, assuming those have also been restored to the same level as the theatrical cut.

Will the SLV be in 7.1 I wonder.

EDIT: the SLV will be 2.0

The Blu Rays appear to be Region B locked according to Zavvi. Not sure if it's accurate.

Thinking more on it, I certainly hope the SLV has restored those scenes to match the rest of the film, and it's not just upscaled 1080p inserts. That would really take me out of the film with lower-quality scenes cutting in and out. I probably wouldn't even consider the deluxe edition if I thought those scenes would be not be fully restored to 4k, because I'd likely never watch it like that. The benefit to me is seeing the SLV in full 4k with the SLV scenes fully restored. But watching lots of older horror films has taught me that often the extended or unrated versions of films use unrestored footage due to bad sources.

The SLV will be in HDR so I'm sure it wouldn't be jumping in and out of HDR, so all the shots are likely fully restored, unless they use inferior sources and upscale to 4k and apply HDR to them just to keep the HDR presentation uninterrupted. But I doubt that's the case.

I suspect the SLV will be 4K and graded to match the Theatrical via seamless branching.

More than half of the 12 minutes added footage was used and restored for the DE so I think they would have restored the other 5+ minutes unless they were extremely lazy and cheap.
If they restored the other 139 minutes and not the last 5 -- WTF?

Good point. I forgot the Director's Cut used the majority of that footage already.

I'm becoming less enamored of the SLV.

Stand alone standard 4K is looking better and better to me.

If I do end up buying the deluxe set, then it's definitely only for the SLV, and it's based solely on them claiming it will never be released again. If they do release it separately later, yeah, I'll be super annoyed, because that means we will have been misled about their intentions. I guess then I'd be able to sell off the deluxe edition easy enough. It would be opened but otherwise in new condition (provided Amazon can get it to me in that condition).

I hate that all that money and I won't even have a good solution to store the disc in a proper case, so I'll be storing it outside separately. The Close Encounters deluxe box for example included the standard case (with slipcover even) inside the box, so even though it was a fancy outer box, you still had a proper case inside, with a slipcover.

Annoyed? Possibly but after this many years of collecting media most of us should be used to a bit of "buyer's remorse." There's always a lower price or better edition at some point. It's the nature of the game.
