When Heat screened for Toronto back in 2016 he mentioned he really marveled at how it looked on film and it made him debate shooting Ferrari on the format. Based on recent set photos it looks like it’s going to be digital but I’m not sure if it’ll have that “immediate” style he’s employed post Collateral.

He’s mentioned that he’d shoot Manhunter today on digital but Last of Mohicans on film. And that if Heat was shot digitally it’d look exactly the same as it did - not sure if he means with the recent 4K master or theatrically but we can assume the same general aesthetic.

For a myriad of reasons I’m cynical a Heat 2 film ever happens but if it did, I’m not 100% sure how he’d shoot it.

The Mann digital films look horrid in my opinion. Lots of motion blur and just has a cheap look to it.

I keep seeing posts lionizing the old DVD release as the holy grail of Heat releases, but has anyone done a Terminator 2/Star Wars OT like comparison actually doing a one-to-one comparison of the color timing of old film scans, dvds vs new blu-rays? Otherwise we're really going off people's memories of the original print timing from decades ago.

My personal preference of these releases (haven't seen the UHD yet, soon) is the old Warners release btw.

It's likely stacked as Disney always does.

He works at Best Buy. They frown on opening discs before release date and before you sell them.

I'm not sure he was joking. Timothee Chalamet is a serious actor and he's proven time and time. He just doesn't feel like the type of actor to fit in a role like Vincent or Al in general. There are very few actors that can play Al. You got to find a special kind of actor otherwise it'll just be an impression or caricature of Al. I think Al is impressed by Timmy's work and is serious about considering him.

I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but their 3 disc sets always are stacked. As long as the disc isn't scratched up, it will be fine replacing the case.

Thankfully Disney uses proper non-stacked cases over in the UK, although given Warner has started doing stackers this side of the pond it will be interesting to see if that changes at any point...

Got to be your system mate, was listening the other day at -12 and nothing but Clear, Dynamic Sound with no distortion. No need to go any louder than that unless your room is huge.
(My normal listening level for normal viewing would be -20,-22 etc)
