I would appreciate other people’s treasure finds here — rare stock, movies that rarely go on sale, etc. For instance, I’m interested in Shout’s new blu of FEMME FATALE. MU’s $25.50 at 30% off is ~$18, vs Amazon and DD’s $23 — that’s still a couple of bucks cheaper than DD after 15%. So what else are folks finding in here that’s quality catalog?

I wonder if MU even makes a profit selling $100 of merchandise with a $30 discount.

I bit on the Star Trek 4K collection. I have a feeling it will be cheaper by Christmas, but not by much... I also get to take advantage of the Discover Card 5% back right now, for using PayPal, so it will be $80.13 total for me, including tax...

I imagine they increase total sales a lot by keeping the different branded sites. Most if not all of the sites were once independent, and the average consumer has no idea most of these sites are owned by the same entity. Import CDs' customer base is probably quite different than DD's (and, yeah, probably quite a bit smaller!). Most of the sites also have eBay storefronts, increasing sales a lot more.

Movies Unlimited is different than the other sites in multiple ways -- they have a very small selection of CDs (mostly soundtracks), and they still have a physical catalog. They claim to have a lot of hard-to-find movies other sites don't, but I guess that's not true any more.

When did Super D acquire Movies Unlimited?

The markup on most of the boutique titles is high, so they usually are on them. The profit margin may be razor-thin on the movies members here are buying the most of -- the Halloween set and some of the other 4K deals. They're charging $31 for many of their single Arrow titles, so no chance of them losing money on those.

This one stays a good deal if that AoD Steel stays around the $40 mark. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

I preoreded that here too as wll as starship troopersbut it is $35 at Best Buy. Still cheaper getting it here if you consider $10 off each item. Starship troopers is 27.99 at best buy too. But again.....little cheaper after you figure in $10 off. All and all probably saving about $21 if you go this route instead of Amazon or Best Buy for your 3 items.

So they charge when it ships out like Bull Moose, Amazon ect...? Never ordered from them before, so how are they as a company when it comes to shipping out movies? I still have my order on my cart with the $30 off just waiting to make a decision.

I was charged right away. I used PayPal though. Couldn't get the credit/debit option to work.

This is sort of like The Price is Right.

Also, Discover Card has a 5% cash back this quarter if you pay through PayPal so that's like an extra $25 off. On the other hand they don't have deals with Rakuten (formerly Ebates) or TopCashBack like DD has.
$827.69 over 8 orders now. I think I win this epic duel LOL

I challenge anyone to place 8 orders and come closer to $800

My average over for 5 orders: $2.38
Your average over for 8 orders: $3.46

But I'm not going to place 3 more orders just to win your 8 () order challenge so you win that one.

That is what I took this to mean from their website. I could be wrong.

Charging Your Credit Card
Upon acceptance of your order, your credit card will be authorized but not charged. Once there is shipment confirmation, your credit card will be charged for only the shipped items, shipping and handling charges and any applicable taxes.

If the storefronts were already established, it stands to reason they wanted to keep the existing customer base, customers who have developed a sense of trust with the old ownership who might not feel as secure buying from an unfamiliar company. They may not have even advertised that they were under new ownership. I haven't compared prices, but considering how similar the layout and design of both DD and MU, it wouldn't be surprising if they've even somehow programmed the same database into multiple configurations to reduce server costs. That might also account for all the bugs on both, like cover graphics that don't show in your wishlist, titles that don't come up in search...

Don't. Considering most of their prices are about the highest I've seen, as with DD, I can't imagine they get many sells without some promotion on top. Even maximizing this promo, the vast majority of movies would still be cheaper elsewhere. It's select stuff that tends to be relatively over-priced everywhere (like Shout, Arrow, limited steelbooks) and preorders (for those who don't want to wait for new releases to drop even lower) that makes this promotion more appealing.

I'd say you're correct, especially since they've continued to issue their famous catalog. I remember getting those a long time ago.

Does anyone who has bought from them recently know if their prices fluctuate the way Deep Discount's do or are they more static?

Yes, congratulations.

But I'm $1.24 average over for 4 of my 5 orders so it's kind of complicated.

How can I use the 10% code for registering my email and also the 30% promo code at the same time? It looks like I can only apply one code.

That's most likely not possible. Almost no website ever allows promo codes to stack...
