Ok, I'll admit I bought this a few months ago and have yet to watch it. Maybe tonights movie.
The first one I really liked, even if it was just another modernised version of War of the Worlds.
Edit: Not tonight, because T2 3D is "out for delivery"

I'm a fan too. It was another panned movie I avoided but when I finally saw it I was pleasantly surprised.

The Atmos is great also, on the UHD.

Hi guys

Nothing wrong with the sequel at all. And great in 3D.

Re-watched this for the first time since seeing at the IMAX Laser - where I was severely dissapointed. Really enjoyed it this time round - I think because I didn't have much expectation. The first one is one of my all time favorites and one of the first movies I ever saw at the cinema so I had high hopes for the sequal.

3D looked great on an LG OLED. I sit in a pitch black bat cave for my JVC PJ and I did notice that the black levels were slightly raised, had to lower my brightness down from 50 to 48 to get the intro black screens to be really black. Because the OLED gets 150 nits after the glasses it really looks like HDR 3D to me - much more dynamic range than any of the early 3D movies (well 2010-2015)

I liked it. I would have loved to have seen the follow up. That set up was great.

Got this as a steelbook recently for $10. Don't regret it for that price but it's a decidedly below average action movie. The action itself is great, but the dialogue and some of the acting is just not up to scratch, and I think the bar is pretty low for action movies - I'm not after Shakespeare, but there's no excuse for big budget movies with writing as poor as this. 3D was about medium IMO, so it added a nice extra touch and made it more watchable. Would never watch this in 2D.

Welcome to a Roland Emmerich movie.

Gave this two out of five stars when I saw it theatrically and was pretty disappointed, but caught an Amazon seller offering a new sealed copy for a pretty good price and since it's OOP figured I'd snatch it while I could.

Did a double feature of the original and this one the other day and wound up liking this more than the first time around, which seems to be a common theme for people in this thread rewatching it. Still doesn't hold up to the original but for a modern over-bloated blockbuster it's basically fine. 3D was also better than I remembered, though it definitely does have noticeable errors especially on the facial sculpting. Glad to have a copy.

Was the painting of Will Smith accidentally made 3D in this? .

I think this film was done a disservice by implying a much better movie that we did not get to see, as the mention made of the African warlord fighting the alien contingent, Predator-style, for 20 years seems like a way cooler movie. Maybe it's just me.

Independence Day Resurgence like Transformers looks spectacular in 4K HDR. Also like Transformers movies, it looks even better in 3D with lots of scenes tailor made for 3D spectacle. The bigger the screen you watch it on, the better. Very happy this is in my 3D collection. As for the audio, the site review says it has "massive panning sounds", but continues with "and just the beginnings of some LFE rumble make the sonics very impressive." This is my only issue with the mostly great audio. Unlike the first movie which went a little overboard, they over corrected and made the LFE surprisingly weak. It is still a very nice audio track overall.

The movie itself is pure cheese with some interesting acting choices. But no one watches a Roland Emmerich movie for the acting

Is it an open secret that The Patriot is a Mel Gibson movie rather than a RE? I recall Stargate having moments as well.

I've only encountered one person IRL who holds that IDR is watchable, and he had to watch it on an airplane so I chalked it up to a sort of Stockholm Syndrome.

But now y'all are gonna try and get me to watch it? Well, into the queue it goes
