Thought it'd be a good idea to post Meg Tilly's PSYCHO II watch party; live-streaming her very first viewing of the film and taking questions from home. Her insight, energy and honesty make this worthy of a bonus feature in itself. Enjoy!

I don't know, I just don't know if this is worth buying and if the so called re-mix near field 5.1 is decent enough worth my listening time?
The region 2 DVD box set is dreadful remix with common dialog leaking into LR and surround. The HD steam was no better same mess with soundtrack. I then had to resort to getting the NTSC Laserdisc and even thou it had colour phase issue on side A which is very rare I would have to adjust the colour phase and no it didn't make me angry, I found it to be challenging to solve. screen captures to the bluray version. https://www.blu-ray.com/Psycho-III/97133/#Screenshots Open matte with opening titles switching to w/s 1.85:1 then when titles finished switches to pan and scan. Side A Colour phase on LG Oled adjusted the green to max level. When side B started the colour was back to correct phase so I had to adjust colour phase back to 0. Here it is purple. Here it is with colour phase set back to 0. The Dolby Stereo 4.2.4 matrix was better than the region 2 DVD and HD stream. I just wonder if the bluray has the same dodgy re-mix 5.1 with dialog leakage or any other distracting sound? Its a movie that gets very little played now and since the Laserdisc has good 4.2.4 with some strong lossless PCM bass . |

My Psycho II disc from Scream Factory just DIED on me. I still can't believe it. I bought it with Psycho III, years ago, at Amazon, still with the slipcover. I believe I got it as soon as it was released.
The disc BRONZED. It's a Sony fabricated disc, BVDL, I've never seen this happen with a Sony disc. Psycho III is fine. The player identifies it as a BD disc, but it's blank, as it seems. It doesn't load, nothing happens. I tried it in 2 different players. ![]() Anyone else here had this problem with this possible bad pressing? ![]() |

I suspect that at least II will get a 4k. Maybe 3 also.

I sent Shout Factory an email about my Psycho II disc not working and they've agreed to send me a replacement. Say what you will about them, but at least they stand by their product. I originally purchased it back in Nov 2013.

Tonight's movie of choice - Psycho II. This year I'm focusing on movie sequels for big movies that I've never seen.
What an interesting movie. I wouldn't say it's great but it's fascinating. It does feel a bit like a made for TV movie and more of a character study than a horror movie or even a suspense movie. There are some horror elements for sure but for the most part, it's almost a drama. Anthony Perkins has a presence that's unexplainable. He absolutely nails Norman in this just like he did in the original. I also really liked the cinematography from Dean Cundey. Strangely if not intentionally, you really rooted for Norman throughout the movie which was an interesting move. The ending caught me by surprise and I thought the execution was fantastic and super realistic. Just a solid movie all around. Up next is Poltergeist 2 but Psycho 3 and 4 are not far behind. |
