Default ‘Jaws’ Returning to Theaters This Weekend in 3D

I hope this gets a Blu-ray Release!

https://outsider.com/american-entert...-imax-release/

Just when we thought it was safe to get back into the water…It’s been nearly 50 years since the hit film Jaws took us into the deep blue sea as the killer great white terrorized a small beach resort village. Now the Steven Spielberg classic is returning to the movie theaters. This time, however, fans can catch Jaws in IMAX and ReadD 3D, giving us an entirely new experience with an iconic film favorite.

Hi cabanon

The combo has 3D. I too was worried because there was no other indication of it having 3D on the slipcase or the disc. There is a 3D option on the menu when selecting "play.

And before purchasing I looked up that label translation

Yeah, there are some blu-ray 3D of the documentary Amazonia. I've never seen it. It's not my thing.

Hi Gavin

It's still available but none of the copies I've seen include neither English audio or subtitles.

Hey, Mr. Joe D., i went looking for it and on amazonUK there's a comment that says that the movie isn't spoke at all.

And... just found the english version of it on amazonJP:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00NFHRO...=1&language=en

It's over 6500 yen + shipping, unfortunately.

Hi jiardonio

If you notice that edition from Japan says the audio is in Portuguese. LOL. Think I also read up about no spoken audio but wonder if that relates to captions.

It could be because it's a brazilian production. But the edition is from the UK, must be english friendly.

Hi jiardonio

I found the back cover on line for the German DVD and under it saiid "spprachen ohne dialog" which translated means "speak without dialogue ". Hence, it must refer to the cover!

I'd avoid the non english editions, as they mustn't be english friendly.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1240899/

The narrator is Martin Sheen, must be for the english version in my opinion.

Well, i can't tell much except that on amazonJP there's an really expensive british edition of it.

Hi jiardonio

Yes, but only for the USA - and it seems that was not the intent of the producers.

As screen daily noted:

"But Without voice-over narration, or the human interaction of another French nature doc/feature hybrid, The Child And The Fox, Amazonia avoids the traps of facile Disney-style anthropomorphism. But there’s enough of a story about a character they will identify with to keep kids happy, and enough ravishingly shot wildlife safari footage to wow their parents too.there’s enough of a story about a character they will identify with to keep kids happy, and enough ravishingly shot wildlife safari footage to wow their parents too."

https://www.screendaily.com/amazonia/5060226.article

Variety also stated:

"With its sense of gentle whimsy deriving principally from the capuchin monkey’s own natural expressivity, “Amazonia” is a considerably less intense experience than Jean-Jacques Annaud’s 1988 crossover hit “The Bear,” but joins it among the rare ranks of films that trust audiences to engage with an animal-based narrative without need for humanizing voiceover. Not to be confused with observational documentary in the vein of David Attenborough, the film’s fundamental fiction and artfully wrangled critters mark it as a departure for Ragobert from the more objective arctic spectacle of his last theatrical effort, “The White Planet.”

And as one individual said:

"Also, very pretty to look at. However, I prefer the original version where there’s no voiceovers at all; the US cut with the narrator just doesn’t stick with me."

Only if someone with the british edition could say whatever about it and let us know if it is as the same as the US edition or if is done differently. It seems like an heart-warming feature.

I have the UK edition but haven't watched it yet. There's no mention of Martin Sheen anywhere on the sleeve so I assume it's the original version.

Known for a large continuous shot in 3D it is not without 3D interest. I particularly like the way some of the lights shine out of rooms in the background. Your mileage may vary.

A Long Day's Journey into Night
I suppose the long 3D tracking shot is technically great but it did nothing for me. I like dumb movies and I love movies that make me think, but this is neither. I'm not a stranger to the more opaque movies like "Drive my Car", but I really don't understand what's going on here.

It was a Long Day's Waste of Time. Minor positives are that the 3D was ok and it looks nice on the shelf. Huge negative is that it was a criminal misuse of Tang Wei in 3D. Thankfully her 3D journey wasn't wasted in "The Office" (HK 2015).

Hi jchung

Although most was not in 3D, the effect being introduced at a specific point in the film was an artistically clever technique that created a sudden and dramatic emotional impact that otherwise might not have been felt by the viewer - or at least this one.

I compare it to Abel Gance suddenly switching from a 4x3 to a 4.0:1 aspect ratio (more than twice the width of 16:9 and never again used in film) for dramatic affect in his 1927 silent classic "Napoleon".

Have to agree to disagree on this one. I'm usually a bit arty farty, but I got nothing from the 3D or the movie itself. I do "intend" to giving it another try at some point.
