I'm doing a lot better, but I still have a persistent cough.
Today I take my last dosage of Paxlovid, which leaves a terrible chemical aftertaste that lasts all day long. I will be glad to be done with it, but I also think that it really helped me. Might turn on the TV for the first time in a week tonight; I've saved enough on power by being in bed almost the whole time that I can afford to run wild with it now. ![]() |

A friend was accidentally sent two copies of Event Horizon 4K disc steelbook and he gave me one. Nice gesture since I believe these steelbooks are sold out everywhere and hard to get at the moment.
First two episodes of The Rings of Power premiere tonight at 6pm PST. I am excited! It's the early 2000's again with new Tolkien related material coming out! I also rented via PRIME, the HD digital version of an early 1970's exploitation film called "Bonnie's Kids." It apparently inspired QT and Pulp Fiction pays lots of homages to it. The trailer is hysterical and so is the tagline: "Thank God she only had two!" lol |

It would be great for TV shows but those continually sell better on DVD than Blu-ray. If people aren't willing to buy TV shows on Blu-ray they certainly wouldn't embrace a new format. When people stop clicking on the articles. |

A 1TB capacity optical disc might be useful for an 8K physical media format, but that would presume that there was actual demand for 8K content in the first place. I don't see that happening anytime soon, if ever.

Probably not. Massive difference between DVD and VHS. Not so with this 1TB disc. Just another evolutionary change. Like BD and 4K UHD-BD.

I don't agree with you the 1TB is not important assuming the 1TB is for a 16 layer disk (article mentions 8 or 16) if this was for replication (and I am assuming it is not but it is for long term storage which makes it interesting for film sturdies but not us) they could use 2 layers for 125GB or 4 for 250 or 8 for 500. they don't need to replicate a disk with 16 layers of data every time the same way that some disks are single dual or triple layers today. |

I don't get why people say that (since you are not the only one). Don't get me wrong, I think They like that I keep on rebuying the same films over and over again every decade as new formats come out and so I don't think they are in any rush to get to master quality. But I don't feel they have an aversion to ever get there.

can you show me where these estimates of yours are coming from? I think it will be a substantial increase, but that seems extremely exaggerated compared to estimates I have seen.

I just said the 1 TB is not important, if we can replicate a disk with 16 layers (affordably when needed) the same line can replicate a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 layer disk depending on what is needed. if we get an 8k physical format (and I don't care how popular it is if I wanted popular I would watch add supported SD streaming) then a single film can be on 3-4 layers and a trilogy (which I don't care if it is on one disk or not) plus extras on more layers. |
