Supposed to be a call back to the AC games of old. No more RPG mechanics apparently.

Couldn’t get into Valhalla but one day I’ll attempt to finish it. Disliked Odyssey not having a proper ending. So, might be best to hold off until the reviews are in. Video games are a heavy investment of time.

September 10, the Ubisoft Backwards event takes place.

They'll announce to loyal Assassin's Creed fans (which has often been primarily focused on single player offline stories and adventures) that Assassin's Creed is a multiplayer online required experience for everyone to enjoy. I'll pass if so.

I've been a slight fan of the AC series, and rented AC1, AC2, bought AC3 on sale, along with a sale of Black Flag and Syndicate. AC Odyssey was interesting. I like the Historical mode. They're okay games but are held back by too much hand holding game play in my opinion.

Syndicate was my favorite of them all since you got the grappling hook like Batman but can zipline to other buildings. That was fun. The city was very generic though, with every street looking almost the same. Good controls but again, no ability to jump, and the character does all the hard work for the player automatically when you push up on the controller.

I'd be shocked if they made this game have an offline mode. I think Ubisoft is in a bit of trouble lately.

You didn't play Origins? That was one of my favorite AC games in years. I really loved the upgrade system. By the time you're done with the story and cleaning up trophies and side quests you no joke felt like a God because the enemies don't level with you.

If the game is called Mirage, does that make it merely an illusion?

Thanks. Good to hear they don't upgrade with the player.
No, that one I didn't play. I was considering it on sale but kept playing other games. I heard the landscape was mostly desert and cliffs, with some lakes of the jungles.

It'll be interesting to see how it does after release for its likely online only gameplay. If it doesn't do well, it'll disappear like a mirage in a desert.

That artwork looks like a crossover between AC and PoP.

Speaking of PoP, I really miss that franchise A LOT! PoP 08 deserved a sequel, yet it never received one. There were many who disliked it mainly for being different than the other PoP titles, but was that a bad thing? Not at all.

I loved it so much I got into knowing more about the game and its soundtrack (which isn't easy to acquire as the 'complete' one was released in Japan, and the West got just a 'demo' score CD).

Thanks. That's good to hear Origins was one of your favorites in the entire AC franchise.

Can you enter the pyramids and explore the ancient tombs and see Mummies in the coffins? That would be cool. I wonder if there are sand dunes to walk over for a few miles worth. That would be cool.

I did see there are lakes and jungles with lions that attack. Alligators and hippos too.

I'll consider it as I like the Serengetti area with all of those classic animals.

Prince of Persia, it seems they just bailed out on that series completely.
Even the remake was canceled pretty much. It's in a perpetual "TBA" To Be Announced status for years now since its Ubisoft announcement years ago. The developers I read, said the game lost all support. Or so it seemed. Apparently it was switched to a new developer and might still happen...
Quote:
In a statement to IGN Ubisoft says, "The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake."

Ubisoft added, "As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along."

Has there been any information on NG+ mode of Valhalla? I won’t buy another Assassin Creed games until NG+ is announced. I like these games but I don’t want to start all the way over when starting a new game.

Oh crap.

If this is somewhat Ubisoft's "last" game then I hope they give it their best.

That ended with Far Cry 6.

Ubisoft’s future is mobile & streaming subs.
