Also had the UK in the mail today... (don't have much time, so please ignore/forgive, if I'm telling all old news).

The German one coming without the SLV really is a joke. The according UK disc comes with FSK12 print, let's you select English, German and French menus and comes with actual German menu where you can choose between (literally) "Längere Spezialversion" and "Kinofassung" - the former has German subs and the latter even German audio.

What a joke re. the German release.

Oh, other than that, of course amazon just isn't capable of delivering stuff like that in mint condition, but by amazon standards I consider myself lucky - some creases at the bottom (the black spine I mean) and some very minor ones, which are very well hidden, at the spine of the slipcase. The rest is mint.

I think he's talking about all the effects footage in general, not just the extended shots.

Remember that the DC has re-composited effects footage, and the screen comparisons show it's a marked improvement over the same shots in last year's theatrical UHD release, which the SLV uses for 95% of the runtime.

That's another reason I didn't bother with the box set. I know the effects footage in general will look better in the DC than the theatrical and SLV.

I know they were fixing Spock's glitchy armband on the physical release, but has anyone noticed any OTHER fixes from the digital release, like the shuttle that stops moving, or the lounge scene in general?

Seriously?? Wow, that's incredibly annoying. I know it's only three frames, but that's definitely one of those once you see it, you CANNOT unsee it things. I'm not even a professional editor, and I could have fixed that in about five minutes (but won't do it now as I'd have to reencode the whole thing over three frames, which is stupid).

Youre right but the theatrical presentation is about getting what it was like in 1979.
With the exception of the handful badly reworked shots for the 2021 4K Master i honestly believe the effect shots didnt look any better in 1979.
It was a rushed production and effects were literally not even finished until the premiere.
So of course that shows in the final product.

The Directors Edition re-compositing of all the original effect shots in cases where they could find the original raw footage is a gift of the movie god!
I just wish they would have found all the raw footage. For example the klingon stuff at the beginning is still the final composited work from 1979.
The restoration team told in podcasts that they only could recomposit if all elements were available and that they couldnt find everything.
That they found most of the scotty/kirk Flyby stuff is a miracle! That whole scene look so much better than it has before..so much more clarity and sharpness.

What they should have done for the new branched Disc with Theatrical/SLV is correct the couple of shots that were butchered for the 2021 release.

Can you really see this error if it only lasts for 3 frames?
I doubt it.
I should have my disc in the mail when i get home. So i will check it of course.

Yes, a bright orange color turns to bright green. It's very clear if you are watching the armbands.

As opposed to the subs in V and VI which are of a style and font size (huge!) not seen either theatrically or the "normal" subtitle font of BD/4K.

Hmm - wonder why you guys are seeing different things on VI. I wonder if it's a player issue on your end, Peter. Like, maybe whatever 4K player you have isn't recognizing the fonts that Paramount used, which Geoff is evidently seeing on his copy?

My Complete adventure set order from Amazon UK (to Finland) still hasn't shipped. Amazon hasn't failed me before with limited edition releases, I hope this isn't the first time. In the past its been usual that they ship few days late, though, so I'm not yet worried.
